Whilst I am well and truly grey and in my late 70s I haven't previously seen myself as 'grey nomad'. The last four years I have travelled around much of Queensland and NSW in my car being away from home for up to four weeks at a time. I have stayed at motels and in cabins at caravan parks. The issue has become the quality of the beds and the distances at times between one stop and the next. So with my wife's blessing I am looking into the possibility of purchasing a small campervan such as a VW kombie type. It would mean the same bed, capacity to stop anywhere (essentially) and would have the facilities to hand for cooking etc. I would be on my own as my wife's day's of travelling around the countryside are over. So, any comments about the wisdom of buying a campervan of the kind I have mentioned and and other suggestions from your own experience. Many thanks.
Go for it.
Don't spend all of your money first up though, because it is unlikely that you will pick exactly the right vehicle (for you) at the first attempt.
For the same reasons, if you find something that appeals, go for it, don't procrastinate too much because you can start leaning as you go, and the sooner the better.
