 So let's assume for a moment that you do encounter one, do you want to go down in the hall of fame for killing the only ever identified specimen? Maybe two darts get fired (enough to bring down a bull you said), and the much smaller yowie succumbs due to overdose. Or worse, gets shot in self defence. You would make world headlines and I doubt the vibes would be very positive.

Maybe you encounter a hermit living in the bush and you get charged with murder.

I also gave that some thought in the last few days.
If they are humanoid, is it murder or manslaughter?

There is also the question of intent.
Personally, I can understand the need to arm for defence, it is natural to do so.
Though better to be armed with a camera here than a weapon?
The good result here is - don't get to locate one!!!!

I lost my shooters licence 30 years ago.
As the magistrate said - if I was industrious enough to manage to put seven bullets in a six shot rifle I meant business......

Intent is no doubt an important component of the law.
I was lucky, the recidivist targets also got to tell their side of the story.

I refer back to my earlier comment re: reckon there is a possibility ancient populations could have existed in remote areas over time.

Look at the Sentinelese tribe on the remote island off India.

They have survived as a remote aggressive population in their current environment virtually unchanged for 60,000 years?
Why is it so? Is it not possible other populations of peoples could survive in friendly natural environments over a long period of time.

In the animal world, there are many species that have been unchanged over many years, the ancient and continuing story of the crocodile for instance.
Basically the same highly effective killing machine apex predator for millions of years.

Were there populations of Yowie like creatures and pygmies that have been possibly killed off over time? By the invading species of Africans and then the Munda speakers of India that eventually evolved into the Australian aborigines who allegedly killed off an existing pygmy population.

Were Yowies and pygmys the original inhabitants and a few big fellas survived in remote locations?

I am open to the belief a few existed and made it through to recent times? Physical proof would be handy for the pro argument though !!!!

 I won't be the shooter he knows this, hence my weapons have been temporarily surrendered, which I willingly offered them up including my Federal D Class Exemption license and same NSW license. I am the first one ever to surrender my license in this local area for PTSD.  Plus it is a requirement of your license, and it should be also your motorvehicle license, including for depression but they haven't enforced that yet. But they are contemplating it.

 

Secondly we will not shoot unless their is no other alternative.

 

Thirdly in relation to getting tranq. darts and the blow gun, we both remove  wildlife from around OZ, for mining projects predominately, it is a sideline business we are good at it, and we know exactly how much tranq. to give per approx. weight of animal. We are also licensed to do this so getting the tranq.s is easy.

 

This is an expedition to try and find them, we will try not to put ourselves or the humanoids at risk, and will vacate the area asap if it looks like if any action will go south. Then we are out of there. We have set up an extraction group of 3 people in various vehicles to come in and get us quickly if need be, plus we are only be  using Cobb and Co tracks, which are not in the National parks nearby, I have an almost period map of the entire area.

 

We are not doing this in a dumb way, we have been planning it for a fair while, but you will be the last people to see the fotos if we get them, because of the reception I have gotten here, I will send @rmoor them first.

 

Finally you can't get bear spray in oz legally no one can, it would be nice, but no, plus we are not breaking an laws in doing this, we have checked withe police hence why it will be a winter expedition instead as less like to encounter people out there.. Average temps overnite in the area in winter are -3 to 0 C.
