BYD just killed your EV argument with a battery that competes with gas engines - Fast Company

The charge rates are claimed to be 1500kW, 1 second for 2km, 8 times Tesla's 250kW best. Just need the infrastructure to catch up.

And they say it is cheaper too.

Cheers,

Peter

I dont understand people cheering on a country that is not our friend and will potentially be an active enemy. Australia had very good reasons to ban Huawei. One day when china turns off you EV remotely, good luck.

I was not "cheering" so much as acknowledging their ability to develop these technologies faster and better and cheaper than anyone else and that is a fact.
Like Japan did before them, that will get them the business, like that, or not.
Cheers,
Peter

I'm waiting for the flat areas of the car to be solar panels and charge the cars battery as you drive. It's just down the road I reckon.

In the meantime, I'll stick with me Collie.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Simply doing the maths it's not worth putting solar panels on a car due to the lack of area.

1000km Range, better than anything krasnov has ever done for the world.

This also provides the option of fitting smaller, lighter batteries which will in turn reduce the energy consumption per 100km.

Regarding the country of manufacture, the top 9 selling EVs in Australia (including 2 Teslas) were all made in China. #10 was made in South Korea.
Cheers,
Peter

I wonder if the charging stations would be able to manage a fast charge for this car, or would they need to be modified. I they do need to be upgraded, we could end up with public charging facilities which lag behind the progress of the EV capabilities.

Oops I just re-read Peter's post and see he's already mentioned the infrastructure catching up (I clicked on the link without fully reading the first post).

Problem with any EV/PHEV is the payload is cut to he'll due to the weight of the battery.

I guess if it's just the two of you and tow an original A-van, you'd be ok.

I'm waiting for the EV supporters & enthusiasts getting a Ute or Suv, hooking up a 2-3000kg van, and reporting their Lap experiences.

Wouldn't that be an interesting read.

What a circus that test is. Hybrids and towing a pop-top single axle. Disconnect van to recharge. So ridiculous. Not for Australia lap touring.
