Gerraint Oakley, who posts to Threads under the username @gerrainto, racked up close to 40,000 likes when he posted a photo of his small, long-haired dog before and after getting a haircut.
In a post shared on November 30, he wrote: "My dog just got a haircut and now it looks like he gave up drinking and got his life together."
One of the earliest traceable examples comes from Pinterest, where a photo set of a 6-month-old Shih Tzu puppy named Gidget went viral around June 2016.
