Lake Wallace camping grounds

We stopped off at Lake Wallace near Portland/Lithgow and were pleasantly surprised. An open massive parkland area along the lake edge for caravans, RV's, tents etc and dog friendly. No power boats allowed, so perfect for canoeing, fishing (trout) and swimming etc. Has only one old fashioned toilet/shower block that Council cleans daily, but can get a little yucky as most people go there and shower off the lake water sand etc before heading to their rig (so take your thongs etc). So best for self contained rigs if you are fussy. Camping is allowed for a maximum of 48 hours in the designated areas, which is a pity as it takes us 1/2 a day to set up.  Hopefully the Council is not too strict on this. Its first come first served for the better locations, but many to choose from and its free. Has an RV dump point, but I did not go looking for it. No fires however, which could be an issue in winter, so LPG might be the go instead.  Photo copied from the web.

Ignoring the rules is precisely what gets these places closed.

Have some consideration and don't be selfish.

Cheers,

Peter
