Byron Bay and Cyclone Alfred

Just sitting here and thinking what happens if Cyclone Alfred hits Byron Bay really hard.

Has our good old mate Dougwe done the right thing and made that all important phone call?

I am very concerned that if the wind blows tooooo hard and it rains toooo much what will happen to the TWINS.

Please Dougwe let us know the outcome if they survive.

G'day SC, long time no see mate.

The twins are fine. A bit windblown but OK. The Ranger smile that keeps an eye on them has taken then to higher ground over in Nimbin. There will still be a lot of puffing and blowing wink but they are up high so no chance of flooding. I have not that long ago spoke with the twins and now the problem is, they like Nimbin and the people, so might want to stay. Like me, they like the surf beaches though, so that might win in the end. The other thing that worries me is it might get to a point of, what happens in Nimbin stays in Nimbin.

I keep seeing all the news crosses to Byron Bay and I now have itchy feet.

All that aside. Please everyone in one of my favorite places, Byron Bay; and effected areas, stay safe and keep off the roads until safe to do so. My thoughts are with you all.

I have been up in the NE of NSW for the past few weeks and the overreaction of the media to what has really been happening is just unbelievable.

The biggest concern is probably Lismore and downstream if there is much more rain but as far as being "slammed" as reported in the press, give me a break.

Yesterday we received about 50mm of rain and the biggest gust hit 61 kph. Where I am, most of the punters still have their awnings out.

I remember when Covid struck and we were having "borders slammed shut" people were "slapped with fines" and we were continually being "hit by numbers". Now we are being told that something biblical in the history of weather was coming, with people being warned to "hunker down in their bathroom" or being "lashed by rain" and "blown about" by winds. Warnings of 700mm of rain and winds approaching 200kph were prophesised.  The best one I thought was the clown who reported that the cyclone was "careering towards the capital". It was clocked at about 7kph.

Really, with these clowns when something dramatic does occur, I fear the majority of the population will just ignore the warnings because they are sick to death of the hysterics and sensationalism of the media and the politicians.

i saw the twins the other day Doug .That ranger is really looking after them for you. He is so kind, he even stays with them to make sure they are safe.

Agreed.

Leading up to the storm event it struck me it was at the level of a Royal Marriage or Royal Wedding event.
Severely overdone.

Bit confused too, I am yet to hear the term Climate Change.

Just when I thought the coverage couldn't get any worse, the fat clown with a beard from SKY has appeared on MSM, standing out in the rain on the Gold Coast, waving his hands about and talking about the "worst is yet to come."

Perhaps he is talking about his next bulletin and having to listen to him.

We are being told to "hunker down in our kitchen". The dictionary defines hunker as "to squat or crouch down or to prepare yourself intensely. In a kitchen???

DMaxer that's what friends are for, keeping an eye out for others.

I'm sure Doug will be relieved to know the twins are being looked after and are safe.

Cyclone Anthony renamed Alfred buy BOM, because of PM Albo.

In the end Alfred was all piss and wind, promises a lot but came up short sounds like someone else we all know and some detest.

It's a good thing there wasn't too much damage, friends on Bribie and Red Cliffs have reported no real damage around them
