The Tennis

I am not a fan of watching tennis at the best of times but some of the antics displayed in the Australian Open have become quite hilarious.

I find a lot of top level sports people, especially tennis players, are totally one dimensional with rewards far exceeding actual ability. Millions of dollars for belting a bloody ball back and forth over a net and then throwing childish tantrums when the call goes against them.

I couldn't stop laughing when that female in the final threw teddy out of her cot and went to work on dismantling her racquet. This results in the officials becoming very upset and fining the player about twenty cents which is probably never collected anyway.

I have come up with a great solution. These racquets are not cheap. Some of them cost in the thousands with the average punter never being able to afford one (or need one) and they are probably supplied buckshee anyway by the manufacturer. Here is what should be done;

When the player goes to work on the racquet it is then confiscated by the officials. When the player then plays in the next, say, four Open events, (Oz, US, Wimbledon and French) they have to use that buggered racquet in the first match. Just imagine the hysteria when someone is firing down a serve at about 160 kph and this fool is there holding onto a racquet that looks like it was targeted in an Al Capone drive by shooting. See how long before racquet demolishing becomes a thing of the past.

As for all the abuse they hand out to umpires and officials I can fix that too. Wheel out the recording and every time they are about to serve in future matches, play it at full blast on the big screen. Picture it, this dope bouncing the ball and calling for silence for concentration and the only noise to be heard is either him or her gobbing off. How can they complain when it is them that is making the noise.

I think they are pretty good ideas.

You are on the money DMaxer. Self entitlement now knows no bounds when it comes to the so called stars in sport. They lose sight very quickly that the only reason they are paid what they are is because of the spectators. If nobody wanted to watch they would be just playing their chosen sport on a weekend for their local club for the ****s and giggles.

I stopped watching tennis when Sharapova started grunting. I'd like to see her and her ilk forced to listen to an endless loop of their own grunts and shrieks.

The circus keeps getting bigger.

Was a time when the Tennis was a dignified serious sporting event. (except for MacEnro? (I think it was) who used to throw his racquet around and argue with the umpires)

They are no different to that idiot the Australian cricket selectors have found to open the batting.
He has the sportsmanship levels of a John McEnroe.

So we can hardly bag the tennis mob when we have a breeding ground with a loud-mouth, upstart hero with a modest batting average so far of 28.
Many sports people at the top level do now display terrible role model antics.
Look at Kohli going out of his way to make physical contact with the loud-mouth.
He should have got one match suspension for that automatically, not a token little fine.
It sends the wrong message.

Do agree though, it should be 10 grand a few game points lost when a tennis racquet flies.

Just like the umpires should have the power to warn Khawaja and the upstart about 5 or 6 overs from time, if they are obviously wasting time they get docked 10 runs or "timed" out and dismissed. At the end of the day that sort of time-wasting is not in the spirit of the game and is effectively a method of cheating. Cheating the opposition of a fair opportunity to succeed?

It is a shame when officials would have to make rules that were to govern good sportsmanship though.

Sorry.... is that good sportsPERSONship. Had to endure the Australia day ceremonies on Lake Burley Griffins edge on TV yesterday, so I am now fortunately 10% more woke in my beliefs after being educated with the speeches.
As a footnote, I went to school with the bloke doing the sm*king ceremony. He is 400 KM out of his "territory".
Must be an inter tribal thing now is it?
How does one welcome us to the region that they were not born on themselves?

The bloke doing the smoking ceremony probably uses the same criteria perfected by Warren Mundine in all of his failed attempts.

if masses of people were not fronting up with cash (up to $1000.00 a ticket?) or sponsors prepared to pay big dollars to get their names splashed around these people would not have a job and nor would the many minions who tag along in the background like parasites.
so as long as the dollars are flowing in these people can do as they like, an for the most part get with it!

Another hijacked thread that will surely end up in the bin. It was about Tennis, not intended for someone to slag off Cricket. Be creative, launch your diatribe on a separate thread.
