I revisited the forum today after some time away from it, tried several password options as I had forgotten my password, without success. My fault. I tried re-registering but of course was told that my username was already taken (it's unique so it was likely from my previous registration).
However, I tried several times to enter my username and every possible e-mail address I would have used to join the forum without any success. In desperation I tried the account recovery option. I entered my username and at least ten times, I kid you not, going through the "prove you're not a robot" captcha process only to be told each time that the verification had expired! Have you ever wanted to punch a computer? If so you would know how I felt at this stage!
This account recovery vetting system is obviously not working and I can't be the only person who has been driven nuts by it. I visited the grey nomads website "contact us" link in an attempt to find someone who could see what was wrong.
I then, again, went back to trying every possible username and password combination under the sun to *finally* succeed in getting back in! Yes, I have saved the password I used to get back in, it is etched on my brain!
I would really appreciate it if the admins could have the account recovery process fixed to save any other members that frustration of undertaking the same process I just have.
Pleeeeaassee?
Cheers
Oz.

Hi Ozplanman, Sorry to hear of your frustrations with the system. Our forum is hosted by a third party and although I cannot change it, I will provide our hosts with some feedback to hopefully help them improve the system for the future. I am the webmaster here, and you can either contact me by private message, or you can send me an email: editorial@thegreynomads.com.au In the meantime, welcome back!
Thanks for replying. That's all I can ask. Happy to be back on board!
Without wanting to reduce the possibility that the issue resides at the service providers end, this could also be browser incompatibility, Microsoft's "Edge" browser which I have been using, has occasionally failed to process operations properly.
Cheers
Oz
