Hoping somebody may have more info - 2015 Diesel BT50 has brand new engine (don't ask!!) goes into a sort of Limp Mode after about an hour on the highway, no towing involved. Can still do approx. 80 kmh, but I pull off, switch off engine, take out keys, disconnect the accelerator pedal, pump it a few times, re-connect and I'll get about 30 k's further but still quite doughy. Scan Gauge showed 66 degrees trans oil temp and radiator water 85 degrees. Scan Gauge initially showed some codes (from memory 606 and 707) I cleared them and they haven't re-appeared. The car does stumble a couple of times before she starts to limp down.
I feel I have a dodgy accelerator pedal, but before I go out and buy a brand new unit at about $280, I'll get a 2nd hand one from the wreckers and see if it makes a difference. Thought I might be able to dis-assemble old unit and give it a good clean with an electrical cleaning spray, but there are about 7 tabs you have to prize open at once and I'm not an Octopus!! This morning I'll clean the MAF Sensor. I have checked the Inlet pipe - it is not cracked or split.
Could be an oxygen sensor, usually one in the exhaust at the engine, some 1 or 2 further down the exhaust system, buy a code reader or get a workshop to do a scan.
I have these a couple of weeks ago the ranger had an issue with the throttle not responding correctly, I ran the error checking it threw up throttle position error, dleared the error everything back to normal, when it goes in for service next week I will get them to clean and check the voltages on the throttle position sensor.
Op has already said he has a scanguage. if it was throwing codes, the scanguage would pick them up. muzzagod have you spoken to whoever fitted the new engine?
on the web code 606 =ECM/PCM Processor Fault
couldn't find anything for 707 ( but i didnt look to hard )

Did you get a short motor, that is an engine without the head and all ancillary parts, or did you get a complete engine, because if you got a short engine, or at least a complete engine without the ancillary parts, like the turbo, etc, it could be your turbo solenoid, my advice to you before you start guessing is take it to a diesel engine specialist, seriously, this is what you need to do, they will test not only the solenoid, but, the ECU, the EGR, the Suction Control Valve, the mafs sensor, dpf if you have one, it can even be the catalytic convertor. How do I know this, I had a recurring limp mode with my 09 pathfinder, and they tested all those parts and found it was the turbo solenoid. It cost me just 500$ all up including the solenoid, 2 years ago.
