We are after your advice we are putting in a25amp battery charger and plans are to install it where battery is (not lithium) which is under seat in caravan. There is adequate space but the water pump is in this area. Question we have is:
do you recommend we put a barrier around the water pump and if so what would you suggest, thanks in advance
I've never had a water pump leak, but there's always a first time.
A barrier around a leaking water pump could result in more water sloshing about. I'd consider putting the electrics into a box affixed partway up the side if possible. The box can be vented on the side away from the water pump so any water spraying around can't enter the box.
I strongly suggest maintaining the cable length you have on the charger now - do not lengthen it so that the charger can be in a more convenient place. The charger monitors battery voltage to determine state-of-charge and the longer the wires, the more voltage drop.
Wherever there is a water pump, a washing machine or a water heater it may be advisable to drill a 25mm hole through floor and cover the hole with a piece of glued insect netting. The drain hole will act as a vent also.
If a leak occurs water has somewhere to drain.
