The argument there is wrong.

Turn on everything in the home & its using a lot more than the average. Both our instantaneous hot water systems total 44kW. Plus heating, cooking, dryer etc.

A 350kW charger is a short term output to charge the car very quickly in about 10 minutes. So that is only 60kWh. You can't charge the battery from empty to full at maximum rate the entire time.

This should be in the jokes section, where most everything else is crap too.

Not an EV fan but this is wrong plain and simple. Most EV's cannot charge at 350kw/hr anyway. The car limits the maximum charge rate you can stick in it. My mates Tesla is something like a maximum of 60kw/hr regardless of the charger output.

Yep, I do at least try to understand things like Units of Electricity or Laws during lockdown or Road Rules etc. But it would seem that's not the case here.

Public EV charging                                                                                                                          Charging at home...

Never mind Gundog, I'll look up the figures. From memory charging six EV cars draws the same amount as 100 houses use per day.

Safer to charge up at a public station, at least when your car burns down you still have somewhere to sleep.

ps BYD equals B urns Y our D riveway

I think this sums it all up, indeed.

BYD actually use a little bit different battery technology to other EV's as their battery is in like a series of blades. This is far less prone to catching fire and several European manufacturers have approached BYD to supply them their battery tech. I am not about to rush out and buy one. For one thing it won't tow my van about and I am still old school in as much that I like to hear the brrm brrm noises still, but I like to try and keep up with the tech currently on offer and the Chinese are ahead of the game when it comes to EV's. Elon I think is looking worried. He has established a plant up there to stay with the latest offerings.

As far as I am concerned re EV and this climate change stuff, it is all a load of you know what.
But, isn't it costing around the world a humungous amount of revenue?
Just imagine what we here in Australia could build as far as infrastructure and looking after the less fortunate? etc.

With all motor transport here only making up 8% of our emissions it's also a dog whistle to distract from gummints lack of action on our main contribution to climate change...the huge amounts of revenue gummint collects from coal and gas exports, can't do without that revenue can we?

ps Tesla has just announced that it is slashing retail pricing on both the model 3 and the model Y for the THIRD time THIS YEAR. Imagine how all Tesla owners think about that.

Do I detect a limited sense of humour? Why do you read them if they are, as you say, crap????

He's an EVangelist, this type of humour will NOT be tolerated :)

ps, I'm waiting to see him put all that solar he has mounted on his slab sided truck roof to good use, and convert the truck to an EV, it will be a good education to the rest of us about using solar power to get from A to B.

I don't necessarily think climate change is a steaming pile of brown sticky stuff.

But the way its being used as the only reason/excuse for mandating (possibly non-suitable) change upon the general population is just the biggest crock of ****.
