RV Gard paint protection

Has anyone got a comment to make about RV Gard caravan paint protection. We bought our new van 3 years ago and were conned into paying $1,600 to have RV Gard applied to the interior and exterior by the retailer in Sydney we bought it from. 3 years on and the exterior white paint is oxidising and needs waxing to bring it back to life again. RV Gard is supposed to stop degradation but it has failed us miserably. We would not recommend it to anybody. Would be interested in anyones experiences. Thanks.

I had 'Vantec' applied to my aluminium tent at new. It lasted 5 years before it wore off.

I wish I had done something similar to my Collie at new back in 2014 as well. It might have saved me re-spraying roof and bonnet a few weeks back due to major sun damage after 8 years. The Collie is Red. Looks as good as new now though.

I am going to apply Liquid Silicone Wax to the Collie very soon and use a Silicone wash&wax car wash when I wash it from now on.

Maybe you could try a Liquid Silicone Wax to your Van to help out?

I am going to use Maguires Liquid Silicone Wax and apply by hand then polish with cordless drill and wool pad. You can also get a Maguires Spray Silicone Wax that you spray on and hose off then dry as normal. My normal is using a microsoft towel.

Hope that helps?

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Thanks for your help Dougwe. I have recently used a similar product to bring the van back to life which has worked well but I will give your suggestion a shot soon and see how it goes. RV Gard just didnt do it. I reckon it would have only lasted 2 years max. Thanks again for a quick reply Doug, I appreciate your help.

I would be back to the retailer, and all over them like a rash. RVGard claims a lifetime warranty for their product. I would be testing that claim.

If a painted surface is oxidising over time you will need to mildly cut back the surfacing with a cutting compound by machine before you apply a good quality silicone polish to protect the surface coating.
