Caravan leaks are a curse for many people and often a topic for help. I have done a search but not found an answer to my problem.  our 2006 Traveller front window is leaking NOT around the window frame but between the window and the window frame. Almost as if the window was not closed properly.  There is a thin tired rubber seal that should be being squashed when the window is locked shut, it is too thin and a bit tired.  I intend to replace the rubber, anyone  here have any experience in doing such a fool thing and what the seal might be called and sold by.

The window is the older bog standard style, glass, wind out, with two thumb-over snib catches. Aluminium frame. The rubber I need to replace looks like it is forced into an extremely narrow groove.... I can hardly wait....

Sarge I can picture in my mind's eye your window, I doubt that you will be able to purchase an OEM gasket to replace the seal. Depending on the window size, you may be able to purchase some insertion rubber sheet (laminated rubber with cotton reinforcing) and cut a gasket to the size of window glass and bond it to either the glass or over the existing fitted rubber.
Alternately run a bead of Silicon RTV (1mm to 2mm dia) building up on existing rubber seal - this would require at least 48 hours (minimum) to cure before shutting window.

You may be able to purchase the rubber seal from  - Clark rubber ,or maybe a large window manufacturer (G.James Glass and Alum) etc.etc.

I have used this stuff for years - it's quite surprising how it works.
i have amongst other things been in the marine/boatrepair
business and it WORKS.

Eventually dries and hardens to a silastic-like rubber.

ps. I suggest that you lift the sides of the rubber gasket with a knife
and apply the stuff so that it gets a good start going tight fitting
rubber.

The sealing rubber on those windows can be obtained from caravans plus in canberra,

I think I found the right rubber at Award RV in fern tree gully. But out of stock today. Wont know until I get a sample and yank a bit of the old out. Thanks for your replies.
