British Writer Pens The Best Description Of Trump Ive Read

Nate White

Why do some British people not like Donald Trump? Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:

A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trumps limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.

Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing not once, ever. I dont say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, its a fact. He doesnt even seem to understand what a joke is his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.

Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesnt just talk in crude, witless insults he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.

There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. Its all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we dont. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. Hes not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. Hes more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.

And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff the Queensberry rules of basic decency and he breaks them all. He punches downwards which a gentleman should, would, could never do and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless and he kicks them when they are down.

So the fact that a significant minority perhaps a third of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:

Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.

You dont need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.

This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, its impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of ****. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum. God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws he would make a Trump.

And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: My God what have I created?' If being a **** was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.

The obvious ancillary question is, why are there so many retards who admire the man, even in this country?

BTW, although it doesn't diminish his takedown of Trump, Nate White is a Christian Scientist. These people are a different kind of weirdo.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nate_White

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Science

Although these nutters don't advocate injecting bleach to combat COVID, they are just as dangerous:

The church does not require that Christian Scientists avoid medical care--adherents use dentists, optometrists, obstetricians, physicians for broken bones, and vaccination when required by law--but maintains that Christian Science prayer is most effective when not combined with medicine. Most controversially, the reliance on prayer and avoidance of medical treatment has been blamed for the deaths of several adherents and their children. Between the 1880s and 1990s, parents and others were prosecuted for, and in a few cases convicted of, manslaughter or neglect.

While certainly not a fan of Nate White & Christian Scientists, I find this an excellent description of Trump.

BTW did I mention previously that I picked up a copy of Trump's 'Think Big & Kick Ass'.  Thought that I did well in reading 165 of 265 pages but I was robbed, paying $1 for it at Salvo's.

It sits up in the bookcase in the political section beside 'Jigsaw' .. A biography of Joh Bjelke Petersen, just to demonstrate that I read (a bit) about all sides of the political spectrum.  BTW there are 3 volumes about Bob Hawk as well just to keep balance. LOL

It amazes me that so many in the US vote for this buffoon.  He is a danger to the world & I shudder to think of the damage that he would do should get another term.

Ooops ... looks like I made a boo boo referring to the deceased Nate White of the looney Christian Scientists.  Too busy to research I suppose.

So I googled the name and came up with this

https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/satire/why-do-some-british-people-not-like-donald-trump-135275/

So I then tried again & got this

nate white british writer - Search (bing.com)

That's it from me.  Lost interest & as I said, too busy.

Yep, I agree, it's not funny. True yes .......... & not funny because of that.

He may have been the US president once, but I think the piece of writing quoted was a well written description of the man, particularly because of both it's accuracy &  because the writer did such a good job of avoiding political commentary.

Political narrative continues to be regularly posted to this forum, including today, but where are the complaints or concerns about that?

Perhaps, I'm guessing,  because it is a political narrative which sits comfortably with those who might otherwise complain?

Not meant to be humerous DickO, however it is accurate.

Nor is it political, its an insightful assessment of a deeply flawed public figure.smile

I have to agree with Santa.

It is not an overtly political comment, it is a personal comment about the personality of a political figure.

I found it quite reasonable myself.

It's a matter of respect to use someone's title. I cannot think of a single thing about that man worthy of my respect.

Just because you dont respect the person, the title deserves the respect. He was at one stage one of the most powerful persons on the planet. He has achieved more than most.

You mean like Chancellor Hitler and Comrade Stalin? Trump disrespected the office of US President by abetting an insurrection against this office and seeking to overturn the result of a democratic election. The man is a pig.

Just shows the loopy lefties cannot accept he achieved more the previous bloke 8 years in the job.

Whilst DT is nowhere perfect JB is a corrupt dud, like a few dimwit states invent charges to try and prevent DT from running again.

Tha same media protection racket used that got JB the job, it's being replicated locally to protect another dud govt here.

Hi all,
Thanks for your input on this; however I think I will close it now. Please note that we do not allow political discussions (even if it does involve a different country). These sorts of topics usually end up with bad feelings and personal attacks.
