Bike carrier on a 2008 Jayco Swan Touring?

Hi everyone, we have a Jayco Swan 2008 that we just bought. We are currently fixing it and upgrading it ready to take out, Yay!

I was wondering if any of you smart people would have suggestions on how we can get this bike rack http://buzzrack.com/galleries/buzzracer-h4/ to work with our van? Preferably without changing our a-frame to an extended one.

We are towing with a Santa Fe Highlander turbo diesel.

TIA Michelle

The buzzrack link that you included displayed a four bicycle rack. Are you intending to carry four bicycles?
Four bikes use a fair bit of space. If four bikes are on the front, they could impede space as the Swan turns. Four bikes out the back may need some frame extension.
Also, if you want to extend the bed ends, you probably would neeed to move the bikes to enable the foldouts.

Have you thought about getting a carrier fitted to the roof of your vehicle or to the Swan? Of course bikes on the roof of the Swan would need to be removed if the roof needed raising.

Sorry, no ideas from me about suitable A frame mounting or rear mounting.

I recall many years ago fitting a sturdy H&R towbar type support brace to the rear of a caravan's chassis rails for a 2 x bicycle rack for a client. Whether or not that is a viable & /or legal option for a nowadays late model caravan i am not sure. I left the vehicle repair industry in 96, might be some food for thought for others in the kno nowadays to follow up on ? All the best with the fitment project.

Welcome to the Forum Michelle.
The pictured rack would be deemed illegal in all States due to overhang length on rear of camper. Consider designing a hinged rack to accept your four bikes that folds over the top of your camper.
