Has anyone fitted a Jillaro awning to their van, what do you think.
Strongly suggest that you look elsewhere. After I had visited their store in Macdonnell Road, Clontarf, no fewer than three times, and was unable to get any useful information or assistance from the young lady in reception, or the man in charge, I went down the road to Aussie Traveller, in Oasis Court. 1300 663868.
The knowledgeable staff there couldn't have been more helpful, had all the information I needed, and their pricing was good. Bought an awning about 17' and I've had no problems with it at all.
No association with this company other than being a "happy camper". Cheers

After visiting Jillaroo and Aussie Traveller, whilst no decision has been made yet, I did visit another supplier who quoted on a Carefree awning which is exactly whats on the van now, I also found another supplier Awnlux which are in Ballarat.
The Awnlux and the Jillaroo look almost identical, I assume they both come out of the same factory in China.
The Awnlux offers only black fade as a color and the Carefree offer 2 choices of color, silver or black fade which the color only covers aabout 3 feet from the roller.
Carefree is not my first choice as their rollers are light weight because the 20' awning they tend to bend a little in the middle even with the center support pole, and the fabric of the skin seems lighter than the others.
Looking at the construction of the Awnlux and Jillaroo rollers they are delivered in segments with joiners that make the roller appear stronger and rigid.
The front runner is Aussie Traveller, but I like the weight of the Jillaroo Fabric, next monday we will go and visit Xtend up on the Sunny Coast and check out what they have on offer, and a follow up visit to Clontarf return visit to AT and Jillaroo.
As I explained previously Carefree has an issue with it's roller strength when it comes to 20' awnings they tend bend, I have had 2 and both have done the same, fabric quality is very different between the first and second, the second started delaminating and pin hole appeared in the outer layer after a couple of years, and recently it has started leaking from the stiching at the sailtrack.
Aussie Traveller only missed out because of the lead time from order to delivery.
What do I like about the Jillaroo, basically its the quality and construction of the fabric roller, the 2 end segments are 6'6" and the middle segment is 7' the 2 internal joining sleves are about 2' long that are predrilled and affixed with 12 stainless countersunk screws in each joiner. A Note of Caution the roller is definatly heavier than the origional.
As for the skin it appears to be a better weight vinyl than my current Carefree.
All the existing mountings for the frame hardware match the new frame set.

Thank you very much, Yes I have watched that vid, all is not as it seems, at 2.06 minutes this bloke shows the spine that runs through the pocket that runs through the sail track, that looks like a grey spine. The correct spine for the sail track is black, the 2 grey spines are to used in roller
His explanation that the awning was half down when it got ripped out of the sail track, he neglects to say just how windy it was, that make me wonder if he was using some form of anti flapper. Many of us have seen shredded awnings from high wind that were not secured properly,
I wonder if he ever raised it with the company for a claim, if not maybe it was not new but older than 12 months and out of warrenty.
That was 1 YouTube compared to many many positive quotes on Facebook and I admit the was 2 negative one's there also.
