Is it worth converting our van 240 AC TV to a 12 volt DC tv.

Depends on the TV if its a newer LCD flat panel smart tv, the I dont see an issue get the right sizes inverter, then you can use it with either power source.

If you have a smart tv then check the specifications against the 12v tv you are looking to buy.  I have a 240V 32 Samsung and the quality of the picture is substantially better than some of the cheaper models I have seen.  I havent been able to compare it with any 12V tvs though.

I see on another post you think that you cant use your 240V tv when camping.  As Dicko stated all you need is a small inverter connected to the battery and it will run.  Get a pure sine wave rather than a modified sine wave.

Thanks for your input guys. as mentioned it turned out to be a simple exercise. We just plugged the TV cord into a small extension cord and then into our 1500 inverter and guess what ... we now have TV. I will remember that from now on. Cheers Jay&Dee

Hi Tim Tim, I was the State Sales Manager for Arnott's biscuits in Qld. I never thought of using "Tim Tam" as my name code. Tim Tam is still perhaps the best seller in the Arnott range given the extension to the Tim Tam brand. Cheers Jay&DEE
