Olympic highway

Wondering if anyone has driven the Olympic highway to Cootamundra recently and can tell me the condition of the road? Not sure whether to go that way or up to Coolac and then to Cootamundra? Thanks The Newbies

There is a lot of road works on NSW roads at the moment (late May and June) when we drove down to Victoria and back to look at the silo art. We live on the Darling Downs. The CMCA have their rally this year in Dalby on the 8 - 14th October so there should be other caravanners out there for you to meet. Toowoomba has it's Carnival of Flowers during September with the parade on the 16th. If you go to Cootamundra can I suggest a little side trip to Harden to see their painted silo if you like that sort of thing. Enjoy your holiday. Cheers.

I have towed from Cootamundra to Coolac twice in recent months (both directions).
The road was OK, but can be a bit hilly and winding but in general for a thin country road was reasonably safe.
It was pot holed in some areas but not nearly as bad on my first trip on it some time ago after the big rains it was a horror, but then again, so was everywhere else in the region.
Since those big rains none of the local roads in central west NSW have been the same unfortunately.
They also open up again after some half decent rains in some spots.
I will be doing a similar trip in that region in two weeks time on my way to Beechworth.
Jugiong looks like being my halfway overnight rest point and the best way in looks to be Boorowa via Harden which is a route I have not yet driven?
My alternative is Wombat to Harden as it is my default stopover point if running late from my morning specialists appointment but I do not know the condition of the Wombat to Harden route? I can guess it is bitumen and not wide, also a quiet road one would imagine but maybe not a great one to use around pre roo o'clock.
The upside with the Boorowa route is that the pies are good at Boorowa.
To answer part of your question, Coolac to Cootamundra was passable and OK in my humble opinion.
The brekkie wrap at the Sutton Street Store in Coota was to die for, not real good for the waistline though!!!
