Hello techies from The Minnow.
My initial questions are on the general forum but was advised to head over here. How do I remove the AVO dayton speakers from the outside console to the right of the main entrance door of my W Alpine 2007 without breaking them? I cannot get to the speaker screws from under the stove inside because they have been screwed from the outside within the speaker surround.
Cheers The Minnow.
I have looked at same model speakers and if you say no screws on the inside behind stove the speaker fronts must come off. Have you the same speakers in dinette area or bedroom to look at closely.
Re tyres, we run 19.5 inch tyres and never had a wearing problem 1st set 90,000 km only changed due to 10 years old 2nd set at 50,000 no uneven wear,
The truck battery should be charging the house battery through converter in house battery compartment, voltage sensitive relay near truck battery
I always leave solar switch on. Maximum charge only about 3 amps if you have not updated anything
My model is 2008 on an NQR 450 chassis.
Thank you R R and Bob D.
I have tried to pop the covers but no result without damage to the securing panel but will take RRs advice and look at the other speakers inside the bus.
To RR specifically, I will look up your model and compare. My bus has converter in the compartment in front of the house battery compartment. I can post photos.
Thanks for both your posts.
Cheers. The Minnow
Minnow, Some speakers have actually got an internal "Lug" that prevents covers pulling off straight - they need to be turned (usually anti-clockwise) for lug to be passed by groove, allowing cover to then come off. Hope you understand what I mean

Thank you people for replies. I checked inside speakers but can't move them either. I will have to go to an auto sound place and learn the trick of taking the fronts off without breaking or damaging the woodwork. Speaking of tricks we got bogged on the black soil in Crediton State forest because I didn't know to flick on the ASR on the dash when we were slipping sideways and the engine was cutting power to the rear. Any one else made the same mistake? so I don't so I don't feel such a goose!!
R R did you fit 19.5 rims or are they standard after 2007 and is your model labelled the Longreach?
I will play with the multimeter re those currents.
Cheers.
Hi Minnow
Yes ours is a 2008 Longreach, the ,motorhome is very similiar to the Alpine,
In the house battery area, on front wall was a battery equalizer, on rear wall below power switch was the 24 to 12 converter, we have now replaced with newer Redarc 50 amp unit. Yes 19.5 inch wheels standard with Michelin tyres
Hi. He used a piece of package strapping a bit like a pipe wrench and flicked it off. I tried to no avail!! He said you should do it every year or two with the amount of time I spend on dirt roads. Cheers.
