Rusty Corner Stabilizer, or known as drop down jack

If you have little or nothing to do, remove the rubber cap and have a look inside the rhs behind the bolt, above the wind mechanism. Dound our " no name " ones have a perfect moisture trap. From a little to a moderate amount of rust. I have so far put the rust convertor on, hence the black look.DSCN8241-001.JPGDSCN8245.JPG

Just checked mine, mongrel to take foot off for good look, not a split pin but rather a round spring as in a key ring - as good as new - (Evernew) galvanised.

Yep some of my split rings were rusty as well, but the top end, not the foot end.

I had rust appearing in the feet of the drop jacks and they also had spots of rust on the legs. I got into them first of all by spraying on a degreaser. I then hit them with white vinegar and left them for a day or so to let it get to work. I then gave them a thorough seeing to with a wire brush and a tooth brush in the hard to get at places. Once I had done this I used an anti rust gal primer followed by a top coat of gal paint. To finish off I hit the mechanical parts with spray on lithium grease.

They look good and work a treat.
