Not necessarily Deverall11. If someone resigns because the work environment is so hostile that one is unable to stay, it can be classed as constructive dismissal.
This then means that the departure was not a resignation but a termination.
I doubt that he made any rash decision and has thought this one out pretty well.

Dont watch much TV, and my invite to the Coronation, must have got lost in the post, so I really have no idea what Stan Grant said about the royal family
I sit on the fence, in regards to Stan Grant/speaking up for Aboriginal Australians/what was said or not said about coronation/etc/etc/etc
But
From the little I have read, it appears that people did not like him speaking out, and instead of arguing over the arguments, (whatever they were), started to play the man, and not the ball
I had never met the man, but if he happens to read this post, I would say, through my eyes, of being a white coloured/shade, (born overseas) Australian Citizen
"Stan Grant, you have the same rights as myself, to speak out, and I for one, would not attempt to attack you, on a personal level, if I was to argue with you
I sit on the fence, in regards to Stan Grant/speaking up for Aboriginal Australians/what was said or not said about coronation/etc/etc/etc
You do realise that the level of disapproval has risen dramatically because he chose to voice his negative views on the monarchy at the time that millions of viewers tuned in because of interest in the monarchy. He should never have been given the opportunity to say a word at that time of great celebration. In fact opinions should not come into .... just report on the spectacle.
Maybe Pauline Hansen should be invited to speak at the next major indigenous celebration and given free reign to voice her opinions.
For the record I chose not to watch it and would not consider myself a monarchist.

Wrong time to voice this kind of views as well as very biased. Lost your was Stan. maybe it was a way to promote his book???
And now to cap it of that little fella (Michael Rowland's, I think that's his name) has joined the ranks of Stan Grant and is stepping out for a wee while.
Talk about pathetic individuals these Lefty ABC employees are.
When not happy at what's going on in the "big bad world", especially when others have opposite opinions, all they can do is take their "bat and ball" and go home. And of course his job will always be there at his pleasure when he decides to return.
Give us a break Abc staff.

I think the most ridiculous, look at moi, theatrics by another ABC talking head. All this clown is doing is going on a month's holiday. Why did he have to make such a big deal out of that. All he needed to say was something along the lines of "See you in a month, I am going on my annual leave" instead of all the theatre.
They are not lefties, Aussie1. Ita and all the gang are all hacks and appointments from the Man of Many Ministries and his mates. Have a look at Insiders or Afternoon Briefing and all they do is interview opposition members as if they are some sort of a Government in Exile.
I don't watch the ABC anymore except for Landline. If I want to find out what the Government In Exile is doing I will just wait for ICAC to begin federally.
The ABC knew exactly what it was doing when they placed Stan Grant on the coverage of the coronationation.
He is a shock jock along the lines of Alan Jones except on the other side of the fence.
Placing him on that coverage was always going to raise controversy which is exactly what the ABC wanted.
I am not a monarchist, although I think Elizabeth did a very good job of it. I think Australia needs to move forward from those times.
However, like many Australians, I am thoroughly sick of being constantly bombarded with what our white ancestors did to indigenous ancestors.
My ancestors were forced to leave Ireland by the British a couple of hundred years ago, losing land as a result. But it makes interesting reading only. It is consigned to the annals of time and I could no more go to Ireland now and demand that land be returned back to me than could people displaced by the Romans or Vikings.
It is how the world is. Pretty much every piece of dirt on this rock has been squabbled over at some point or another.
All this rearward navel gazing does no good to anyone. This world is full of opportunities if one looks forward and grasps them.
This constant blaming of what your ancestor did to my ancestor is a stupid and fruitless self indulgence in my honest opinion.
People who involve themselves in this will never be happy. They will die still being miserable because you cannot go back. You cannot change history no matter how much you may wish it.
Stan Grant needs to realise that and instead work toward improving the future for his people at the coal face.
The Voice isn't going to change anything. Just another money pit without actually changing life for those at the coal face that really need help.
Where I have a slightly different view is that I believe we should stay tied to the monarchy. With all the unrest in the Pacific region, that tie may have some benefit to us. If you think of how the average pommie will feel if we move away, we will be becoming just another country, no longer part of the family. Then it would be more difficult for their government to gain support for giving aid to Australia if needed (in whatever form).

Agree 100% Greg. Well written. How often do we see the losers in any battle then start making the rules ? Pathetic. Cheers
I have been absent from the media as we travel back from the Cape to Victoria. Tonight we we have a signal at 4 Mile Conservation Park just out of Brewarrina, NSW.
I haven't always agreed with Stan Grant on everything, but unlike most jumping on the anti-Stan bandwagon here I believe he is someone with integrity & not afraid to stand by it.
The barrage of negativity in this thread is of no surprise to me at all, but I don't share it, & am confident that they are minority views, albeit more common in our age group.
Have a good night all, we will in this tranquil spot.

The "barrage of negatively in this thread" you mention is simply others opinions which are quite acceptable to me and I am confident to many others. Just like you, ALL are entitled to their opinions.
I also do not agree it is a minority of views. unless of course, you have evidence to support such a statement. Please post that evidence. Also some evidence of "albeit more common in our age group" would be helpful. Certainly not in my personal contact with others I communicate with. I do like to involve others in much younger groups I communicate with, than just my age era. I have found I get a good balance from their input. And surprise, surprise, those opinions are in line with my opinions on Stan Grant on his current "dummy spit". And his mate Michael Rowland's who is now gone as well with his "bat and ball".
Enjoy your traguill spot Cobber.

Greg 1, you nailed it 100%. It backfired and now they looking at who to pint the finger at
and/or running for cover.
Suggests you get onboard Cuppa. Negative in this thread is denying reality.

Michael Rowland has just gone on leave until end of June, and will be back June 29 I believe, according to him and the ABC.

Believe whatever you like. Personally I couldn't believe any excuse the ABC try's to publish on this pathetic issue. It was a "dummy spit" and driven by his mate in support of his ridiculous "rant".
Cheers.

Unfortunately for Stan Grant, he got himself lost in what his various roles are for the ABC, due to getting emotional about the subject at hand, ie the Monarchy and the Voice.
His 2 roles, at the ABC, were firstly to be an UNBIASED presenter on TV with shows such as Q @ A, which is under requirements of the ABCs charter. If he had done this, fine.
His other role, is as a commentator and contributor, and you can see his work on the ABC news feed, where he can present his OPINIONS, as most in that position do. What he has ended up doing is just presenting a lot of controversial opinions in both roles, and this has caused his problematic feedback, and what he says are racist attacks.
Does that deserve racist based personal attacks. No. Should he be surprised. No.
What I do know is that he still denies his comments in some of his opinion pieces are a problem, but while he claims in his latest pieces, that he comments from a position of peace and love, until he stops claiming there is still a war being waged against Indigenous Australians, which he stated in a series of earlier opinion pieces, he will never be seen as a harbinger of peace, and still be considered a divisive media personality.
ADDENDUM: It now seems Stan and Michael are both on leave, with Stan to return in 8 weeks. Make of that what you will

Thanks for pointing that out, Are We Lost
I had (and still have) been unable to find exactly what was said, by trawling through utubes
The searches seem to come up with, utubes of other news outlets condemning Stan Grant, and the ABC, but not what he/they said/did at the coronation
The other news outlets, seem to be saying that the ABC are loosing their viewers over this issue
I was also a bit surprised when other news outlets presenters, said that they too, have in the past received death threats etc
Must be a lot of TV viewers out there, who have never learned that we all have the right to agree to disagree, without shooting the messenger
People who didn't watch the abc coronation coverage need to view this video clip.
On this historic occasion the abc got it wrong in so many ways, the preamble ramble started with criticism of the cost of the coronation and degenerated in to a whinge fest from the 3 black presenters who chose to air their personal views on the event and the monarchy.
They are entitled to present their own personal views, however this was not the time nor the place to do so.
Thanks Santa. So far I have just watched a few minutes but the negative opnions are already flowing.
From questioning the cost, to protestors on the streets, to the impact of settlement on first nations, yet the smiles on the presenters' faces show their falseness.

Isn't it great to see the FarRight attacking anything left of White Supremacist's or telling porkies about everyone else. It's the same old theme by the same old tied FarRight mob 10 or is it 11 posters out of 100's that post on here.
Imagine if this was a helpful Forum instead of a destructive one, it would be a much better place to visit. Or is this the plan to win over Forum Members to Mike's new Forum if so I think Cindy may wish to investigate.

As mention previously there have been no personal attacks or disrespect shown by any of the posters.
It's a topical subject worthy of intelligent debate. If you cannot see that, Specsavers.
'Destructive one'? Seems that is the case because the opinions mentioned here do not sit well with you.
Maybe if it were a subject you like but others don't???? It's called turning the table around. Get the concept?
