Changing Suburban 240V thermostat

Water heater works well on gas but only warm on 240V. It was suggested that replacing the 240 V thermostat should fix it. The manual for our model SW6DEA doesn't actually show a part number for a thermostat, just the thermostat cover. Has anyone changed one of these before who could give me some tips? 6 years old, 22.6L. Thanks, Kent
