2023 factory 70 series GVM upgrade

I find it interesting that in this article :

https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/toyota-landcruiser-70-series-2023-review-140287/

the author reckons Toyota have upped the 70 series GVM by up to 415kg for the four-door wagon (less for other variants) without changing any part of the suspension.

Nothing like a safety factor ...

Phil

These old buses are so understressed that there is a mile of tolerance in every component. Mine had a 1480kg front axle capacity and a 2300kg rear axle capacity from new, but GVM was only 3300kg. But it was an easy and inexpensive job to up my GVM to 3780kg, this figure being the sum of the factory axle ratings. Now I can run at 6800kg GCM, legal on every axle.

What you're paying for with this old dinosaur is the things you don't see.

Chassis, diffs, bearings, clutches, engines, steeringgand suspension all built for durability. It's built to tow and haul, and do it for many years. Only a few truly need something like a 70 series, but for these people there's nothing that compares or competes. Cheers

Read what I wrote Yobarr, I was talking about the van. I believe yours is covered in solar panels?

I like Toyota's, just not the agricultural ones.
