Another Fine and a good thing too

Driving with an animal on your lap

Sounds like a good idea at the time, but not so good when you cop a hefty fine. Its a serious road violation as a driver must have proper control of the vehicle, and having an animal or another person on your lap while driving is not considered to have proper control.

Itll cost you

$481 fine and three demerit points, with harsher rules in school zones.

Presumably applies to right hand drive vehicles as well.

Driving as you mentioned is a blatant demonstration of ignorance. Those drivers have total disregard when
it comes to safety for themselves and others. Maybe they need to be shown a graphic demonstration as to
what things look like when a small creature is firmly embedded in the dashboard after an accident.
This IS why we have seat belts, baby capsules and restraints for pets. Personally if you lose your beloved
pet in an accident, your loss. If you kill someone because you did not have proper control of the vehicle,
it's on YOU.
Why does one feel the need to have their beloved pets on their lap whilst driving. Would the same driver do
the same with a small child? Hope not. Definitely would not be popular when they get home.

As a life long Ducati rider, adding a dog to your average (and I do mean average) car drivers list of distractions can only make things worse.

Better still, spend a few years in a Rescue squad and see what the end results can be like. Did it for 15 years. Leaves you very very shaken and not in a good mind some of the things you see

I am told that front seat air bags, if they deploy, don't mix with small children and animals as well.
