Thanks for asking me for an opinion, but, as Graham has posted, there already is a thread about this elsewhere on our forum. Complicated, heavy way of wasting money trying to make a vehicle do things for which it never was designed.
Smaller van or more suitable (read "bigger") vehicle is a far more effective method.
WDH is not the cure-all that many consider it to be. Cheers

Anyone who has been on this forum for more than five minutes would be well aware of Yobarr's views on this subject. It's been done to a dinner mate.
Thanks Phil, for your observation. Rote learning often works, and SLOWLY, I believe, members are beginning to see that when it comes to weights etc I know what I'm talking about.
However, some comments that I see show only that my posts are being looked at, but not actually read and understood.
Many times I have explained why WDHs are often counter-productive when used in the way that members use them. Extra weight, extra towball overhang, more weight on car's rear axle before they're tensioned, and greater effects of yaw. Easily understood, surely?
A WDH can be useful, however, if it is used not to try to make a vehicle tow a van that is altogether too heavy for it, but to distribute weight in a heavily loaded car that is towing a syitably sized van.
Remember, If safety is of any concern, always the weight on the wheels of the car should be at least 10% greater than the weight on the wheels of the van. Simple physics that minimises chances of the tail wagging the dog . Cheers
Deverall and KB,
Your interpretation of my post is wrong. Many moons ago when the issue of hitches was first aired, I thought that Chris and Montie were on the right track so I ditched the hitch. In my case, if the van is level, stowed correctly and adheres to its correct weight, I have had no problems.
My observation that "it was done to a dinner" was in reference to the amount of posts on this subject which, invariably end up going round in circles and, in some cases, personal attacks.
Chris understood what I meant, hence his reply. I don't always agree with him but I do on this subject I hope this sets the record straight?

As per my original post, I found this on another forum. The fact that it was prominent did not prompt me to check if it was already
mentioned here. In finding this I was simply curious as to what Yobarr's view were on this since weights, WHDs and whatever else
in that field seems to be his pet subject. That's it. No invitation to make smart remarks about him. We all have our assessment on
his views on this subject and I also asked him if it was a 'fetish'. Tongue in cheek.
