A bit tongue in cheek to lighten the atmosphere here!! lol
A Carnoustie driver is warning people to 'think twice' before buying an electric car. Hotel manager Rob Al**** bought his motor in Dundee just four months ago and was disappointed when he failed to get over 120 miles from a single charge - despite the range being advertised as 209. When he tried to return it with 3,000 miles on the clock, his dealer told him it had depreciated a whopping £11,600.

It's one thing for vehicle manufacturers to quote unrealistic fuel consumption figures (which are achieved using 'driving' conditions that that the average driver never experiences) but it's another thing altogether (outright fraud) to be quoting travel ranges for electric vehicles that are not achievable in real world conditions.

During holiday periods, when many families travel long distances visiting friends and family, the limited number of re-charge stations means that there will be such staggeringly long queues of vehicles waiting to re-charge that many will unfortunately end up in the far queue. Cheers
We had Chris Bowen the minister for Climate Change Sun and push bike Generators appear on Mackay Qld nightly news twice last week promoting a Chinese Built ute and while he is driving and telling everyone how quiet it is he cant take a breath quick enough to tell everyone how they will be falling behind if they dont go out and get one.
I thought we had enough problems with Chinese utes without us all owning one and believing that they will do 300 klms on a charge. Maybe Bowen should have looked at the coverage of the news service on 7 and realised that the new beaut ute could not outdrive the TV signal distance.
My point is why not build and supply small basic vehicles suitable to cities large regional towns and make them affordable or at least on comparison.
Apparently the Chinese Ute above is $90.000.00 and it would battle to do any return trip between many major towns in the Whitsundays and on to Mackay.
My eyes water at the thought of $90.000.00 for a vehicle that is basically useless except for very local travelling let alone something built in China.
Why not resurrect the Holden or Ford manufacturing plant/s to build electric vehicles in Australia
for Australian instead of buying this Chinese crap. Cheap price cheap rubbish IMHO.

Nobody wants to pay an Australian process worker $100K per year to turn a spanner, nor do they want to deal with Australian unions or Australian working conditions.

Article on TV a few years ago about the Holden plant in Melbourne, an unskilled worker putting the rubber door trim on the commodore was on $117K. No wonder the company closed.
