Just completed PDH from Clermont to Mackay. A highspeed route with about 20-30 km of the usual Queensland 'rough spots' along the way. Fuel at Clermont, Mooranbah and Nebo. Route down the escarpment is dual lane comprising a series of well engineered slaloms with posted speeds of 50-60kph. Starting at 0800, after shift change at mines, traffic was exceptionally light in both directions. Got a bit heavier after 1030 as the coastal traffic began to reach the Downs. Considerable roadworks recently completed, being completed and yet to start west of Mooranbah. Work sites well managed with minimal disruption. Trip time 3.5 hours. To those who may have trepidations about the trip-fear not.
