WA trip fuel snapshot.

Hi all,
Left South West Slopes of NSW, in early April 2022, heading to WA and returned home Thursday of last week.
Combination of touring, prospecting and isolating (we both got Covid in May)
2020 Toyota 200 series diesel towing 2011 Phoenix off road cvan. Towing approx 95% of the time and Cvan fully loaded (approx 3.35t) for approx 95% of this time.
Covered 21,206 km
Used 4150.37 litres of diesel
Paid $8933.50 total on fuel
At Average price = $2.15 litre ( dearest $2.79 at Sandfire roadhouse, cheapest $1.75 at Katanning)
And Averaged 19.56 l/100km (12.03mpg or 5.11k/litre). Best tankful was 18.2l/100km (some not towing) and worst was 22.9
I think we will need to work on increasing the gold recovery rate!!
Regards,
Ian

Thanks for those figures. Gives people a real world test. Actually not too bad for the kilometres covered.

I stick all my numbers it a spreadsheet. The car provides average speed so it's easy to calculate the average daily hours of actual driving. Which in itself may be interesting data.

I also compare the car's figures to the fuel pump figures.

I also have a spreadsheet and find it very useful.  I have attached some images of what it has for those interested.  The DataEntry image is all you need to enter data which calculates all the detail (not included).  The final part is the Fuel and Speed images which summarize the trip and then there are a number of graphs to visually show what is happening.  I have included two of those graphs.  If anyone is interested, I will post the working spreadsheet.

Well done Ian, good concise figures and not a bad average fuel economy.

I remember a 12,000 km trip I did about 6 years ago and it cost about $2,500 for fuel, amazing the difference in price nowadays.

Cheers Bob
