Sorry that I can't help. Too old and too few building skills ... was never better than a bush carpenter. Pity, as a few weeks or months at Big Bend would be great as the cold weather abates.

BTW not breaking protocols but as suggested you may do better by posting in the adds section.

You want to see the workmanship of so called professionals these days not building to Australian Standards in our block of Units. One has to point out the ASxxxx code they are required to build to.

With the numbers of retirees on the road there would be a good chance that some of them will be experienced tradesmen and women.

Finding one who feel he wants or needs to work might be difficult. It will be hard to take on a project as big as yours. It also may be difficult for someone to do the work in a new area from where he may have been established.

I am not familiar with the building company you intend to use but years ago I had a plan to use a shed supplier to sell me a kit and I could get a builder to fit it out as a weekender type of building.
I spoke to two reputable builders at the time and both of them commented that to line and establish a shed was more expensive that to build a separate dwelling.
They both explained that the dimensions of sheds dont fit well to changing them to homes unless they come as a shed built to suit.
Their main worry was the portal frames of a shed were generally built in increments of 3 metres as opposed to 2.4 metres in standard homes.
This according to them increased the cost of materials considerably. Also foundations or footings can be a problem. Hard to believe but this is what I was told

I ended up buying a transportable building.
Delivered to the site and set up without incident.
A plumber and a sparky to connect services were a lot easier to get than a registered builder.
It was also cheaper than getting a builder to erect it from scratch.
One other problem might be the council approving work from an unknown *tradie* although having said this I hope we have all moved ahead since the days when I was trying to do a similar thing.
