Hayman Reece WD Hitch v Toyota LC200 Std Hitch

DSCN7849.JPGDSCN7850.JPGDSCN7851.JPGSo it can be seen that wdh is 50mm longer than standard in my case LC 200. Also from rear of axle housing to rear of factory towbar receiver is 1100mm + - a smidge.

Deleted.

As Greg says, it's going nowhere. Seems some do not, cannot and will not understand simple physics. Sad. Cheers

Just not going to go over old ground.

I have also done all the measurements on my WDH and the McHitch and they don't align with yours yobarr.

On this subject we are not going to agree and I am more than happy to continue utilising products that I have proven work over a considerable time and distance, that is the WDH and the McHitch. You can rabbit on with complete nonsense all you like, but this subject has been done to death and should be consigned to the archives.

Craig, if you provide the measurement from the centre of the rear axle to the towball it is easy to calculate exactly how much a given towball weight will add to rear axle.

It seems Yobarr deleted the main content of his post after Greg posted, and then edited it to respond to that later post. So it's a bit out of sequence. Yobarr's updated comment is valid. Except, when he says "some" (people) I wonder if he includes himself.

Toyota (conservative) figure for TBO is 1350mm  so 350kg towball weight puts minimum 515kg onto rear axle. To avoid confusing anybody  I will not even bother supplying figures from extra TBO and the 30kg weight of WDH and bars etc when WDH is used, and we won't even think about the additional 125mm that a McHitch adds. And "some" does not include me as I am simply a more vocal member of the generally silent group that actually understands weights. Cheers

All I can say is that I'm glad that the deterioration of my cognitive ability prevents me from adding my view to this long ongoing debate.

I don't understand a lot of the 'technicalities', nor do I wish to.  I just don't read much of what is written, but do get annoyed when the personal comments are made in disregard of the Forum Rules.

I'm sure that all (perhaps most) of the contributors post their technical views with the best intentions.

I thought that we had established a 'Sticky' or whatever to partition discussions of this sort from the main streams.  It would be nice if we could use that rather than clutter up the forum with this sort of (ongoing) stuff that I suspect, gives most of us the shi^s.

Sorry, I didnt mean to open the worms, but mereley a post to show exactly the two hitch arrangements. Someone was scaling using a wooden ruler last week.

Standard Tojo hitch makes it 1300 from rear axle to centre of towball, HR wd hitch makes it 1350mm to centre.

btw my towball weight is 237kg on 18'6 pop tup with dual axle load share, set back from centre of van. Approx 90 litres of water included.

The LC200 has a wheelbase of 2850mm. So with a towball overhang of 1300mm and 237kg towball weight, it will add 345kg to the rear axle. An extra 50mm length would add a "whopping" 4kg.

Yobarr has previously talked about 40kg additional weight for the device. From the specs, the shipping weight is 30kg, and that includes packaging and the replacement shank. After deducting that packaging and the original shank weight it's probably around 20kg. When fitted, some of that 20kg would be borne by the van wheels.
