Fat-tailed dunnart + gene splicing = Tasmanian tiger

Tasmanian tiger babies could be a reality 'within 10 years', Melbourne University team says after partnering with US firm Colossal:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-08-17/thylacine-babies-in-10-years-genetic-engineering-team-says/101333144

"Scientists say humans could see thylacines in fenced-off areas of the Tasmanian wilderness in a decade."

I have often wondered why this isn't be done with all creatures that have been exterminated - No I am not saying creating Jurassic Park scenarios, but the technology has been available for years so yes go for it.

I think the Hemworth money could have been put to better use protecting endangered species rather resurrection of the dead.

How about a donation to the Royal Children's Hospital cancer ward? Even better.

I'm reasonably certain that the Hemsworth family more than do their bit for philanthropy in many other Australian Charities.

It seems to me that there is great potential for useful spinoffs. What if we could use gene splicing to cure hereditary disorders? I believe that some work has already been rolled out in this area.
