It just keeps getting worse every day. My retirement nest egg is being eroded by higher prices and longer delays for RVs and motorhomes, and now I will have to compete with 30-year-olds for camping grounds and amenities.

Not only that, but the state of Caravan Park showers and toilets is suffering too. I feel a bit sorry for the Park owners as they will likely have to increase the cleaning regime to up to three times a day just to keep up.
Some one needs to explain to these "new millennials" why mops, buckets and toilet brushes are left in the toilet and shower blocks!
I'm currently sitting out Covid a little longer in a caravan park in N E Vic and the number of people that leave a supplied mat on the floor in shower cubical's even though there is a sign on shower door asking to hang it up when finished. There is also a mop and bucket for the use of but no, no one bothers. There is a big sign in front if you asking to turn lights out when leaving and switch next to door but no, lights left on. The sign is right in front of you. LAZY! DON'T CARE! I have my own shower and toilet in the aluminium teepee and use the toilet all the time and shower on weekends but parks shower during the week just to run water through the system and it's busier on weekends and always mop the cubical after me and pick up mat. I have even picked up mats from the lazy buggers that don't. I even went in to check ladies as lights were on and the only lady here came out as I approached from behind. She had left mat on floor, lights on and not only that, the basin tap still running. It is tank water here. LAZY! and INCONSIDERATE!
The owners were both sick the other week and couldn't clean, it's only a small park and do everything, so I kept the ammenities and camp kitchen tidy for them but they don't even know I did it. That I know of anyway. There were only a couple of other vans around luckily as it is a quiet park this time of year. In fact as a write this I am the only one here.
Why should I worry and let it get to me I keep asking myself? It's just me.

Don't worry about these young dudes travelling around with expensive rigs, they don't own them & with interest rates rising they won't be able to afford the repayments. Keep an eye out for a bargain, they'll be desperate to sell to us cashed up oldies.

A motorhome would be cheaper to buy than a house, and repayments would be less than rent. I think this will only get worse.

You're right there but paying off a motorhome & paying camp fees of $400/wk at a CP wouldn't come cheap either.
They probably wouldn't be free camping.
The trouble with the young ones is that they want the best of everything equal to or better than what us oldies have taken a lifetime to afford.
The difference is that we own it & they have it on HP.
Personally I'm happy that interest rates are going up, bring ém on.
I feel there is certain amount of BS with a touch of personal opinion, the president of the ACC may have an insite as to the group he represents.
So I asked the owner of the caravan park we are at about the comparison between whats in the report and whats happening in the park over the last 12 months, and guess what it's way off, the vast majority of punters arriving in caravans at the park are in the upper age group, rarely do you see a young family and when you do iy's mostly during the school holidays, we do see familys staying in the cabins and Tradies staying in the dongas, and then there are the those who have their caravan as a home base whilst they work on the cane harvest.
I would love to know how the ABC compiled their data to connect the dots for wifi nomads, who many caravan parks did they contact and where.
