One problem is the probes are molded into the tank, if they are not working because the probe is contaminated, there's not much you can do. Jayco supply a set new probes that are fitted by drilling holes into the tank at the correct levels, and you fit them, they are a like a rubber riv-nut.
have you checked the circuit to make sure the probes are going to the correct terminals on the gauge unit (circuit diagram required, I have one I think). I had the connector plugs come a bit loose on ours.

Perhaps you may have a faulty gauge.

I know its a bit of fiddling around take the wires from the grey water and and connect them to the fresh water tank and check the result to confirm the gauge is working properly.

Checked gauge all good...no loose wires.
Have shorted wires on each tank to earth...led for each one lights up as it should.
Senders are the rivnut type can be removed....have tweaked the ones I can get at up a bit with a screwdriver ...no change.
Reason for asking this is back tank has to be removed to access wires to remove...even tho I could get at them with difficulty to check.Its in a mongrel spot with wire side nearly up against back of inbuilt step.
This all leads me to conclusion of crap on senders......bloody well shouldnt be tho as only filtered water we can drink is put into tanks through a good quality filter.
Which brings me back to original question that no one seems to have read....what cleaner do I use that is good for FRESH water tanks please???!!

As you say, "crap on the senders" OR the internal wiring between the sensors is open OR the water level in the tank(s) is not covering the senders !

There are several Tank Cleaners availabe such as Camec Tank Clean (Active Ingredient: Chlorinated Trisodium Phosphate) but mainly designed to eliminate tainting and odour etc.

Perhaps an orthophosphoric acid cleaner ( eg kettle cleaner) or a vinegar based cleaner designed to remove scale etc may work if crap/scale is the problem, however one would have thought that if the "full" sensors have crap on the sensors then why don't the lower sensor have the same problem ??

Are the tanks interconnected so that they drain simultaneously ?

It seems that folks keep posting about the wiring ....which I have previously stated ...THERE IS NOTHING BLOODY WRONG WITH IT !!!!!.
It all starts and ends at the sensers....which on one tank I cannot remove to replace without a lot of swearing ...work...and shoulders that are no good
And what the hell does emptying the tanks together have to do with it ????
I.m over it...please ignore this thread from now on ...I cannot get an answer for my Question....except from 1 poster who bothered to a maybe.

Get yourself a TOPARGEE gauge and you will know by the liter
how much is left in each tank.

two types - battery operated or wired in.

only a handyman simple job either.

Highly recommended!

The reason I asked about if the tanks drain simultaneously is that it seems that you have at least 2 tanks that both tanks have the problem simultaneously.

Without any further information as to how many tanks you have and how many have the same problem simultaneously then one may reasonably assume that there is a possibility that if both (or more) tanks are draining simultaneously then they both would have the same problem of not indicating full if the levels low.

As far as checking wiring is concerned, you have advised that you have checked the wiring outside the tank(s). I have assumed maybe incorrectly that there is some wiring (connections) between sensors inside the tank which is not easily checked. You have not advised otherwise.

You have advised that all water that all water that enters the tanks isn filtered, but not what type of filters are used. Are they particulate filters, ion resin exchange filters. or other types ?
If you know there is nothing wrong with the wiring, and that the problem is due the sensors only,

If and when you resolve the issue will you please let us know the cause of your problem.

I would be reluctant to use Trisodium Phosphate in a tank that stored drinking water.

The product comes under various names and various combinations of other chemicals. It can be quite bad for your health. Fine for Grey Water tanks.

A mate had a Jayco that the tank gauges were dodgy from the word go.

He had Jayco remove the tanks and they apparently cleaned the sensors. Ah! Success for about a week.

Their advice was just live with it and fill them up every time clean water is available.

He thanked Jayco for the advice and bought a Topargee kit.

He had no more angst and lived happily ever after.
