I would do the same thing if I had a chance, Those stripes you get on vans and motorhomes, age the thing, so I think it can go against you when you sell it.

Some yes, some no. Everyone's different. I'd be more likely not to buy something if the stickers were ugly, than if it didn't have stickers at all. If you get it, then want to sell it, and somebody wants stickers, they can always have stickers put on.
Just a comment on decals when we ordered our new van last year the biggest selling composite colours were blues, silvers, greys , golds etc. We decided to stick with just a plain old white one with black trim and the standard decorative striping. They asked us a couple of months ago whether we wanted to stick with these decals or change them over to their new design. When we saw the new display vans on the lot they were impressive no more coloured stripes and swirls just a compass on each side and a mountain range on the front and rear all done in a black outline. It seems that the new decals have been so effective on a white background that 90% of their new orders are now for white vans. I guess we could have asked them not to put any decals on it but I actually like the look of them. We just sold our 5 year old Retreat and if anything the decals on it still looked pretty good and probably added to its appearance rather than detracted from it. As far as having a manufacturers name on an RV or van I dont see its any different from having names like Wildtrack etc. emblazoned down the sides or on the back of your tow vehicle. IMHO when you buy a new van its a matter of personal taste if you dont like what they have to offer then you may need to look for a manufacturer who will give you what you want...

Good points. Who knows what happens down the track.
Stickers and decals are part of the branding so not many main stream manufacturers would build an RV without branding.
You can remove the stickers after you take delivery but remember removing identity branding may impact the saleability of the RV.
Human nature....flashy colours attract more people than not, resale may be easier if something looks extra fancy, especially to the impulse buyer?
Sometimes I come across vans/cars etc that have no makers name decals, probably removed by the owner. It makes me wonder sometimes if they have removed them as the van has been a problem, and the owners are unhappy with the manufacturer/seller and refuse to advertise for them.
Decal replacement cost, due to fading/weather
2 x 1m swirls about 10cm wide going down to a points, 1 dark red the other silver on the bonnet of our Sprinter. ( partly covering each other)
Silver swirl on passenger side and dark red on drivers side, $800 for 2 hours work. Take it or leave it. Should have got competitive quotes, but it looks great.

If I had the option I would buy a MH that was decal free and silver in colour. As Monte suggested branding is important to MH manufacturers so you could experience resistance with a request of no decals.

The time frame they give you will probably be if all goes well, we ordered ours in April last year with an estimated January delivery with all the delays caused by supply chain difficulties we will finally be getting it this month...

I worked for a very large transport company in Brisbane some years ago, they run a particular brand of Prime Mover, for every Tractor Unit they ordered they would demand that the truck logo was removed unless they were prepared to pay advertising fees, hence every truck log was removed.

Strange actions! This was a pointless exercise as you can be sure that anybody looking to buy a prime-mover would be familiar with all the various brands, while Joe Blow couldn't know a Kenworth 909 from a Daihatsu, and couldn't care less. Did it affect resale value, I wonder. Cheers

I knew a fellow who would never buy clothes with logos on them for exactly the same reason. It makes sense to me. I might wear clothes with logos on them if they paid need to do so.
If I buy a new Campervan (not MH or Caravan) I'm thinking of asking them not to put the decals on it.
Displaying decals and other brand name stuff may be a requirement for warranty purposes. It was for me. I waited the full period before totally removing the company supplied advertising and replaced same with something a lot less garish and ugly and visually annoying.
I have noticed many a consumer relying on brand lables to announce self appraised status and to stand out from their peers.

Reminds me of a time many years ago when I signed a contract with a very big outside window roller blinds company. For a discounted price on the blind, I had to agree to them putting a sign on my front lawn advertising them. The sign had to be there for a month. I agreed but I also had them agree that if they did not install on the day promised, they could not put the sign up. They installed a day late and put their sign up. I promptly took it down and burnt it.

We finally put in an order for a Campervan today. expected 14 months, but who knows.
Now to find a small Campervan 2nd hand to use whilst we wait.........

I'll reread the thread a few times in the coming weeks.
I have to say I'm leaning slightly to no decals.
1. I like a cleaner look.
2. It will be street parked at home quite a bit, so may draw less attention.
3. We plan to keep it a long time, so the decals may look dated in 10 years time...
And I'm not really into brands and cars and stuff as status symbols. Not that this little van would be one of those !
Though it may affect resale as some have mentioned.
Much prefer the understated / fly under the radar look.
Probably why I still drive a 23 year old car! Had it since new.

If you are planning on keeping the vehicle for ten years+, there's a good chance the manufacturer won"t be around in ten years anyway. I'd go without the decals.
When they fade and crinkle they look ugly and detract from the appearance. When old decals are removed you can always see where they have been as the uncovered duco has generally faded.

I'm tending to think that way too Robert.
Can't see us ever buying another campervan or upgrading. This one will see us out I reckon.
An old fart towing a caravan with red& yellow flames plastered down the side of it looks like total DH.
Even more so if its a RENEGADE model.
Save all that crap for Matchbox Toys.
I'd go for the plain look anytime, it looks much better.
If you intend to remove them after you take delivery, the sooner you do it the easier they are to get off and the less chance of the vehicle paint fading and leaving a witness mark where the stickers were fitted,
Some dealers and manufacturers may frown on having one of their vehicles out there without branding.
