How to fix a slide out on a Jayco Optium

We have had trouble with the slide out from new it has been back to Jayco 3 times. We had another come look at it and they couldnt fix it either. The problem is sometimes it works then it jams and you have push it to get it back in. If someone in Adelaide noes someone who is good can you send me there details

Hi Wombat,

I have the large slide out (dinette and queen bed) in my Jayco Conquest and also have had problems with it jamming and going in and out skew-wiff, our problem which we finally solved was that we had too much stuff on the bed (bedding, TV, some clothes, shoes and bits and pieces) so that they wouldn't rattle when travelling.

When all the excess weight was removed from the bed and we moved the slide-out 'all the way in and out' (to the max until it stopped on the limit switches), it squared itself up and the problem was fixed.

I also had to strengthen all the corners of the box thing under bed as the skew-wiffing broke the corners apart also I had to relocate the strut brackets inwards to avoid them catching when the bed slid, you might have to have a good look and see if there are any other obstructions that may be fouling.

Hope this is of some help.

That is why I would never have a slide out. Just reading american RV sites, it has been a problem for electric slideout's since the year dot. My B/in law and sister, have bus with a pull out on rollers, they have never had any troubles with it.
