Trailerjack Release Valve stuck

The release valve seems to be stuck when I attempt to lower the van. I have managed to release it before and the van came flying down to the ground! Not good at all. Any advice on how to slowly lower it will be great. Cheers

How about using a car jack to temporarily support the van while the release valve is made free again?
