Hi everyone, I have put a deposit on a MH here at a dealership[in Perth. The MH is originally from Victoria. They have showed me the road worthiness cert from Vic but not one from WA where it now has WA plates on it. They said it had to go over the pits to be re registered here and everything passed but why wont they show me that paperwork? Do they have to show me this paperwork? Looking forward to your advise.
Interesting question kilkenny. We are in Perth and never had to have a car "go over the pits". If they find any faults a yellow sticker is usually placed on the windscreen giving a certain time to get them fixed and rechecked over the pits. Not sure if you ever receive a certificate as such
There is no requirment to be inspected in WA after original inspection for registration.
If you register in another state you will be responsible fo a inspection. Doesn't help you a lot anless you can convince the dealer to do a
Victorian inspection in WA .
A Victorian Roadworthy for a car is much more thorough than an annual NSW one, includes wheels off brake check, so probably the same for your small M H

We don't have roadworthy certificates over here, and there is no paperwork generated when you go over the pits except the vehicle registration. If the vehicle was registered, it passed the inspection, the "proof" that it is roadworthy is the rego paper itself. If there was anything substandard found on the pit inspection, they'd have sent the applicant away to get it fixed and then come back afterwards to have it inspected again.
As far as I know, you only have to take a vehicle over the pits if the rego has lapsed for a specified amount of time. If the rego was current when the MH was moved here, they could have just transferred the rego administratively without an inspection, but if the rego had lapsed, you have to go over the pits for what is essentially a "new" rego. (don't quote me, this could have changed, and it might be different for motorhomes, but for cars you just have to transfer the rego within a time period and you're all good)
Ive recently transferred my rego from NSW to WA and my vehicle had to go over the pits and when it passed the inspection station gives yoiu a letter stating that the vehicle is roadworthy.
When you go to register the vehicle this bit of paper is taken by the DOT so they will have nothing to show you . As has been stated, if its got plates on it . It passed inspection.
If your not happy with that. Why dont you pay for your own mechanic to inspect the vehicle prior to pick up. If the dealer is legit they would have no problems with that.
