Hi Doug,Thankyou for your kind words.its obvious that you have a good understanding of the regulations regarding caravan masses.As always I just try to assist our members to the best of my abilities.I just wish I could do more.Unfortunately I will be very busy tomorrow helping a companies employees to stay safe from from injury, diseases and death.But I digress.So I don't think I will get back to this thread for a day or two.But, if by some miracle I get a spare thirty minutes or so I will.One thing I should mention.TBW, like all weight does not change.(Just like if your too fat you are still too fat the following day)This is because gravity is always with us.(except on the moon which is much less than on earth just in case you were not aware) Again I digress.Stay safe,weigh your van and get it right or you will surely die. :)OB.

I have managed to find fifteen minutes in my busy schedule to reply to your post.Its certainly hard work preventing injuries, preventing workplace related diseases and deaths.But once again I digress.My apologies.Thanks for your support.It's obvious that you have a very high level of understanding of the physics related to towing.Not many do.The document has been designed for just that purpose.KISS.I feel privileged to be able to help so many members.Must go now,incredibly busy.Come to think of it I might donate my earnings to a worthwhile charity.Cheers:)OB

Hi Rob. Probably I will not even bother,although I have spotted errors. However,it is apparent that, to some people, ignorance is bliss, so I'll let it go for now. Slowly the OP is learning though, which he could be given credit for, and I'm sure that his files will be of some help to newbies? (No apostrophe) Cheers

I am pleased you didnt have to drag yourself out of the seat of a prime mover towing a triple combination loaded with gold no less. biggrin just to comment on a caravanners forum.

I am so pleased you dont assume that everyone towing a caravan or trailer has a unit that automatically weighs 3500kg cry

I also find it pleasant that you realise that we dont all have to dispose of our less than adequate vehicles ( not yours or my opinion) and replace them with the mandatory 70 + series Toyota ute of which has been quoted on many platforms to be the worst vehicle for comfort and value for money, available in Australia.

KISS, although it is written in capitals and without punctuation and spacing is the way to offer a check list which should be able to be understood by all.

Anyway I have to go now, I am out on the highway today waving at all the truckies going by. I love it when I do that bent right arm action and they return the gesture by blowing tha air horn.

All this while sitting in my very smooth riding 200 series unhooked from the van and for that matter, unhooked from the rest of the world while I quietly wait for the next truck and have trucking music playing softly in the background.

It cant get any better than this. biggrin

Gday Oldbloke,

Your KISS check sheet is a great tool for any new caravanner to use to assess the safety and compliance of his van and car.

I have read and then re read and then read again, this whole topic so far, and my observation is that at this stage there is only one contributor that needs a really good rub of the Testosterone Crème from the other topic.

I love the humour of Rob D and yourself and Dougs kettle is is certainly dominating that scene. biggrin biggrin biggrin

My background includes writing procedures so I could see a real need. I'm a strong believer in ensuring they are easy to understand. Complexity just ensures confusion and errors. Hence its fairly easy to follow.

I'm sick and tired of people claiming to assist members but really just interested in boasting and agrivating members. I note that once again there is a claim that the procedure has an error. BUT importantly that individual has again NOT provided:
1. What is wrong.
2. Or how to correct the error.
3. In the past that individual has had ample opportunity to provide a procedure but did nothing. So much for helping.

Members will draw their own conclusions. At least I have done something positive.

I'm just glad it will be used to help all vanners to maintain compliance, resulting in safer towing.
