WHEN WOULD YOU GO TO TASMANIA?????

I was thinking about going to Tasmania end of March this year through to end June or July. There are some reasonable Spirit of Tasmania  fares. We would be taking our Caravan , We have Gas heating as an extra, I would expect the weather to be bracing.  Like to read your comments . Thanks.

When the weather is warmer, I have considered going myself this year. Apparently, when the weather is warmer it can get choppy on the ride.

We went in early December 2019. It still gets cold on the rainy days on the west coast but otherwise it was perfect weather.

March and April are probably the best months. The balance will be very different depending where you are. North West windy, some rain 5-18 degrees.
Launceston area possibly foggy and cold. Hobart- not for this little brown duck.

Bracing & wet almost certainly. And that is the optimistic view. Personally I would suggest bloody cold & miserable & in June/July I would far prefer to be there in a house with a good wood heater & plentiful supply of fuel. Some folk like the cold wet ice & snow conditions however & if that is you - go for it. The gas heating will get a good workout! I would add however, that for us Tasmania is about the marvellous outdoor experience it offers, & driving  around in what almost certainly would we would find 'unsavoury' driving weather only to then huddle inside a van to keep warm & dry is not something I would find very appealing, & certainly not worth the cost saving on the ferry for us.

We spent 4 months in Tassie & had a wonderful time Early December through to late March. The weather was mixed with more rain than we had expected, but on the whole we think we picked the best time to go.  If going again I think we'd want to go for longer. Early October to end of March would be good. To give you an idea of how we found the Apple Isle Dec to March you could check out our blog entries beginning with this one. https://cuppa500.com/Blog/back-on-the-road-again/     (There are 12 posts in all covering our time there)  and this is the 'zoom-able' map of where we went. https://cuppa500.com/Blog/map-tasmania-2017-18/

I spent 4 mths there and went everywhere, or so I thought. Then a couple of years ago I went again and went everywhere that I didnt visit the last few times. still havent been all over Its always bloody cold. The east coast is very touristy, but the national parks are fantastic They encourage free camping so support the towns that do that .

We actually live in Tassie, I wouldn't go caravaning in July but June is still not too bad. You have a heater so you should cope with that. Depending on what you are used to, The west will likely be wet, cold and damp. The east will be cool in the mornings but beautiful sunny days.
