240 V a.c. isolator help for RV

hey there nomads I was hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction before I call an auto electrician.

Went to turn the power switch on which I rarelly ever use however it seems the switch isnt clicking on and feels loose. Are there things I should look for to pinpoint what the issue is?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is the 240V power in your motorhome working or not?

It sounds like you are talking about the circuit breaker? Yes, they do normally "click" on and off. If yours is not and the power is not working there may be a fault on the 240V circuit causing immediate tripping of the breaker, if so then it's a job for an electrician not an auto electrician.

Sorry I forgot to mention that. Its the isolator switch whereby I switch on when connecting to 240v which I don't believe is the same as a circuit breaker.

Ah of course electrician not auto guy! Thanks.

There is a two way switch so theres no two seperate phases of power . Being A.C 240v is NOT the same! Anything suspicious ? Go to electrician !!

Tamsun: I think it best you seek an electrician to sort out this issue, I suspect trying to help you via forum posts may only complicate things.

 Hi Tamsun

The photo shows a circuit breaker labelled as 240v isolator.

Did you push the lever down before pushing it up?

If it still trips there is likely a fault in your wiring or a faulty appliance. you can try unplugging ALL 240v appliances and then try resetting the breaker.

Please let us know if that works and we can then go through a process of elimination.

If the switch will not stay on, you have a fault as KFT says in the MH.

Have you been doing any work inside lately? .........A neighbour had a similar experience that kept tripping out the RCD at a caravan park,

turned out he had some new indicator lights installed and one screw went through the 240v wiring in his van, it was a bugger to track down at first.

Cheers Bob

Hey there, thanks so much for that. I cant even recall now but it was flimsy on the get go. I havnt done any work and rarely use the 240 v but hopefully my guy will track it down when it goes into the shop.
