Ian, That's gold biggrin

And so true.

What a marvellous and informative input you two have made to the topic.

Your combined ability to say nothing but still keep your post counts up is absolutely astounding.

We would be in trouble if hospitals , roads , trains, government, ABC etc had to run at a profit !! Its not like some rely big time on reliable supply !! Yes its ALL about money and profits now . Most elect companies are owned by overseas investors !! At the expense of manufacturing infrastructure !! We still need some sort of reliable quick start up generation into fill the gaps ! I dont think batteries can do it ! Unless they have found a away of storing AC !

 Totally agree AK,

What sort of a peanut sells off power stations to private and quite often overseas investors but then keeps the wires and poles so that we pay for that maintenance.

Hang on didnt the same happen to some of our water supply companies as well.

Fellows, like it or not EWs are the future. The quicker you accept this the less likely a heart attack
due to the stress you are causing to yourselves.
Stop arguing about this and that and look at it in a positive way. Look for the positives not the negatives.
Here is something to consider. Many years ago some capital cities had trams. They were removed when
all thought the ICE powered vehicles were to way of the future.
Can anyone verify what's happened lately in SE Qld and Sydney. Yes they have resurrected the trams
and called it Light Rail.
Another thing which did not get a comment. In a previous reply I mentioned the possibility that when
the ICE was invented all the dinosaurs (nay sayers) would've been against that with all sorts of reasons.
Do you not think we are at the same cross roads. Can you see a similarity.
Put your emotions aside and use your brain to apply common sense.

The EV snivvelers that complain about mileage tax should wonder
what they might do when the roads have fallen into such disrepair
that travelling them is a bad experience.

Albo will impose inheritance, death and gift duties to compensate.

I don't know why we worry anyway - given population increases
I can see limits on ownership of personal vehicles and detached
housing being introduced to solve the problem.

Waste of time 'till the big polluting countries are brought to heel.

As previously mentioned, mileage tax is NOT necessarily spent of roads or even infrastructure for that matter.

Where is the evidence that Albo will impose those taxes?

Population is definitely a big problem. I was hoping that COVID-19 would kill off many of the idiots but alas, there're still out there protesting about vaccinations and any other thing that they personally hate.

To right, EVERY country needs to introduce and comply with decent climate change policies.

Yep it's called culling the population. Very familiar with the concept. Prior to COVID it was targeted at those with a negative IQno

There is no point putting your head in the sand, an EV tax will come, as EV become the majority the amount of Taxes collected from fuel will get lower and lower.

Goverments will need to recover those lost income streams with either and direct tax on EV per Km traveled or an indirect tax like road tolls nation wide.

You only need to travel around Vic to see the state of country roads, rather than repair the problem just lower the spped limit and put warning signs because they wont spend money on road repairs.
