Gas hot water not working

Hi there, had the van on the road for 3 weeks now. It's second hand, no warranty. The gas will not ignite in the hot water. It works fine on 240v however. The sacrificial annode has been replaced and inside of tank has been cleaned. Our toilet will also not flush. Fuses are good. Hubby thinks no 12v power is getting to either system. We are currently in Glenrowan. Anyone got any hints or suggestions on how to fix or a decent repairer near by? Cheers!

Other gas appliances work OK? Air purged from tank? All switches that should be on are on? I recall that the Suburban heater has a switch inside the cabinet but not sure if it was directly related to the gas system. Is toilet and HWS close to each other? If so could be a 12v issue with a shared loom being damaged. Jayco etc in Alb/Wod.

Some handy man may have put a fuse in that is concealed. My HWS is a truma and you can here the peizo firing up.

If you can't ascertain a definite 12v supply run two new wires direct from the battery to the easiest of the out of action appliance. 

I like to have separate lines to every appliance as well, to un-complicate connection or problems between appliances.

Ask around if some one can help with testing the power supply and condition of the battery below 11.5 volts it is a dead battery.

Some times folks get a bit unsure how a 12v tester works.smile

If its a Truma unit, remove the external cover plate

If it was working in the 3 weeks prior then it sounds like a power issue. Seems like the toilet and hot water are on the same circuit. Check fuses and possible loose terminals.

A couple of times, whilst on the road, we found that one of the three gas appliances (fridge, stove and hot water) wouldn't start. The solution, for some unknown reason, was too switch off one of the gas appliances, start the one that wouldn't start and then switch on the one that was originally working. Who knows why that worked?
