Have taken a 16ft Jayco behind a D-Max, also a 7 metre motorhome through Horrocks Pass. Didn't do it in top gear though

Have seen large trucks on the road as well

We drove through there in our Navara.
We wouldn't hesitate to tow our 17ft caravan through there with the required low gear caution.
We tend to be a little conservative but think that that route would be fine.
Enjoy the experience, there are a few freedom camping options near there with GREAT VIEWS..

3km before you get to Wilmington, there is a gravel road on the right for 7km to Han.c.o.c.ks Lookout which is a good spot to overnight.

The status was that it is a B Double route but all Road Trains must (or should) split up and tow each trailer separately through the pass.

Caravans trailers and 5th wheelers are not a worry, just be cautious with approaching vehicles on some of the tight turns particularly with other caravans and articulated trucks.

From Melrose,go up the hill past the caravan park and then turn toward Peterborough and from Peterborough head east to the highway to Broken Hill.
The entire route is very well signposted.
You wont have a worry.

The towns you travel through are all worth a stop and a look around. They provide some interesting history of the area.

Taken ours up Horrocks Pass several times.

No major inclines or tight corners.

Thanks so much everyone, we are heading over in a couple of months from WA. A few days catching up with an old Army mate in Port Augusta then up to broken Hill on our to way Brisbane. Mr google said to go that way as well, but we all know how reliable he can be ! Many thanks Dave an Paula

Been up Horrocks with a 3 tonne 21 foot van behind our Ranger no problem. Piece of cake compared to some we have been up in the Great Dividing Range on the east coast.

Travelled that route in 2020, towing our van at 7.0m overall length. Ok for longer vans too.
As others have said not a top gear trip up the hill but ok. As Greg1 posted no much compared to some of the eastern ranges. For our time in 2020, I recall a Wilmington service station had a pretty keen diesel price. I filled up.

Did Horrocks Pass in 2019. We don't tow, was stuck behind a few large trucks, not an issue as not in a hurry & enjoyed the scenery. Done it a few times & have large trucks every time. Much prefer to the road on the eastern side of the range. The scenery is much nicer.
