Roof top aircon leaks

This topic has been around before but the solution eludes me. (No I won't sell the van) and it is a pop top.

The box on top is the whole shebang with a decorative picture frame inside that has 4 screws going up to the box, they squeeze the frame roof 3/4 inch rubber gasket and box together. Had a leak a year ago in heavy Qld storm while traveling so tightened the screws a bit more. A few weeks ago similar storm event and more leakage. Screwed up tight. Never leaks in light rain or while parked nor does the condensation leak in when running aircon.

There are no obvious openings in the box and it is sealed at the front to prevent wind blowing in while travelling.

It does not leak if attacked with a garden hose.

I had been tempted to seal the rubber gasket to the roof but if that was leaking it would leak all the time.... surely?

OK ideas please. I am supposed to know about this stuff.???

Sarge.

Depending upon how many heavy storms you encounter I would be tempted to leave it alone and put a bucket under it when necessary.

I'd be concerned that messing with it will make things worse and you'll end up with a major dismantle and full reseal job.

Is it condensation . Is the drain hose clean
? Can some real good fibre or Sikoflex seal
. Have you checked at night if you can see light inside from
outside ? No light, no
Holes , no leaks ?

Funny thing, but there were other responses on here a few days ago..... anyway, thanks A-K and Mike, only leaks in heavy rain while travelling.... in such a way I checked to make sure the case was not broken up top. It is not wind pressure pushing it in or it would leak in light rain. I was really tempted to glue (sika) the seal to the roof but that is clearly not the leak point, it is almost like a rooster tail in heavy rain gets sucked back through the heat exchange....

It would seem I am in a minority group with this problem.

Not a job for today....

thanks
