Is van life really for me?

Hey there everyone I hope you are all well.

So this recently happened and although I wasnt going to share it after feeling pretty down on myself for a while I decided that maybe other people may benefit from knowing how i make my mistakes.

have a great weekend!

Tamsun: I suggest to you that you need to be less concerned with "hugging trees" and more concerned with learning the skills and knowledge required for the lifestyle you have chosen.

I am a late sixties male with an engineering background and have been on the road for three years: I have had far fewer issues and stress than seem to have accosted you.

If getting stuck on a grass verge is an emotional crisis then perhaps such a lifestyle is not for you?

Haha
Dont worry
I dont know anyone who hasnt been bogged at some stage of their life. its really not a big deal
Keep the van life going, youll be fine
Just realise that where you think is a good park may not always be so.
Be aware of the position of every part of your vehicle.
I had a 4.3 m high motorhome and the camber of the road was always a consideration (after almost cleaning up a power pole)
You mentioned that there were a lot of things going on
I have a rule that if 3 things turn to 5hit then stand down from that task and just take stock of everything (it is also used it high end military/policing situations)
Ignore the antis and hug as many trees as you like. personally i dont care if you hug trees, i dont need to know.
I know a lot of people in very high stress positions (one is a homicide copper) who meditate

Much of the stuff in your video has little to do with van life but life in general. When doing any video, keep it short

Someone once asked how you can tell if someone is a vegan. He answered just wait 5 minutes and they will always tell you
Enjoy your journey.
watch out for boggy ground

Haha thanks Mike. Well I have to say that I love the way an engineering mind works, really do however unfortunately that isn't the way my mind works.

What I do have though is a strong heart that is strengthened when connecting to nature which allows me to support countless people who need mental, emotional, physical and spiritual help and I am happy with that.

I definitely need to learn more skills but what I am grateful for is the people who offer great knowledge and advice in regards to those skills needed. It is in those moments where I learn and grow.

Hello there,

Yes the more people I speak to the more I find out that everyone has a story or many more to tell. I thought I was one of the special ones lol.

The being aware of every position is a constant in which I am getting used to that's for sure. I'm hoping soon it will just become second nature. Ahh 4.3 high and a power pole! Eek.

Yes I just lost a dear friend and had her funeral that day amongst other things.

I really like the 3 rule stand down and would love to incorporate that into my life. Thank you!

Ah yes some people tell me they want longer vlogs and more trees. Hard to please everybody I guess.

Haha! Yes have heard that many a time! lol

Cheers

I learned a long time ago that peoples attention span is just over 3 seconds
Next time you watch tv or a movie, take notice of how long every sequence is, its 3 seconds or less, even the news will only hold on the newsreader for 3 seconds before they cut away or move the camera to give a different point of view.
Watch any advert and every sequence is less than 3 seconds.
Long videos have their place, but when I see one that is ore than a few minutes long, my eyes start to roll back in my head

I was bringing my 20t motorhome home from the painters and on the drive home, I came across a road block.
Ok Ill just do a U turn. As soon as my rear wheels moved off the bitumen, it slid off the road, very slowly.
Anyway, I had to get a 50 t tow truck to pull me out and I put that down to experience, although my wallet was $2000 lighter.

Keep hugging those trees and keep off soft ground!

Ahh yes I completely agree and I guess the more distractions that continuously present to us the more our attention span suffers. This is just another reason why I practice mindfulness.

Ohhhhh WOW! Ok now that is definitely an experience and I guess the light wallet makes it one of further learning.

Thank you! :)
