The Top End is the area north of of Katherine and WHOLLY within the NT.
It is NOT in WA or QLD.
Earlier today there has been a post which seems to suggest that northern W A is "the Top End". It is the Kimberley.
Some months ago there was a post (to a story on the main page) asking "was it bitumen all the way to the Top End"....the poster was referring to Cape York Peninsula.

I totally agree with the 1st post of SoloMC!
Anyone else who disagrees shows they have not lived in the Top End!
The "Track" is or was (before it was upgraded to a better class of bitumen road with very high speed limits) the Stuart Highway - possibly referring back to the days when it was a single lane bitumen road. Thankfully those days have gone although they did make very wide verges in the earlier days. Gone are the days of trying to overtake a slower moving road train on the dirt, thankfully.
Any disagreements should be referred to the NT News! I'm certain they'd sort out the arguments!
The other high point (in Qld) is referred to as The Cape or The Tip.
