Our new website is online now

Hi all,
We are excited to announce that our new Grey Nomads website is up and running. Our old site had been online for nearly ten years and we decided the time had come for it to make way for a cleaner, crisper, cooler replacement. Click link to see new site: https://www.thegreynomads.com.au

Please let us know what you think.

Just a quick look says it is well done, and a step forward.

Well done to you all.

Not for me it isn't.

That link takes me to a page which informs me:

---

You're going to a link outside Facebook

The link you tried to go to is outside Facebook: https://www.thegreynomads.com.au/?fbclid=IwAR3GMlRMEJwAzTQGiuPKNdsu7TKYYIJUBxOsWKrrqpii9R1wxFeKIDjT9tg
Are you sure you want to follow this link?
---
Which is interesting because I don't have a Facebook account.

I tried to log in to the new website but username, email and password were not accepted. Do I have to create a new membership ?

I was also advised that my user name was not on record. Went through the process and registered under my old user name

Thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify, usernames and passwords to log in to this forum have not changed, the only thing that has been upgraded is our Grey Nomads website. When you click on the 'forum' link on our new website, that link will take you here, to this forum, where you can log in as before.
If anyone has any specific issues with logging in, please either send me a PM or an email (editorial@thegreynomads.com.au) with details of the error message they are receiving and I'd be happy to sort it out.

It also works if you click top right corner on forum. That is how I access web page.

Might take a few visits to get used to it as it is change. Oldies don't cope well with change nosmile

Top marks.

One question I have is how often we should change our passwords?

Now about all the problems some of us have with computers............ .

My PC is set to Log in directly to Forum Pages, from there I have to click on to "Website". Initially I was directed to a link outside of Facebook - seems to work OK now.

I question; does the new look pages require extra data to download? Data becomes expensive when roaming with portable devices. My experience is; larger colour pages require extra Data usage. Perhaps Cindy would advise the differential.

Hi Cindy,

The new home page looks good. However, it isn't valid HTML, which means that it might not present as expected on all browsers on all Operating Systems. In fact, after about 20 errors detected by entering the GN URL into the W3C validation website at URL:

https://validator.w3.org/

There was a fatal error that the validator could not recover from.

Did you pay someone to create the new website? If so, please ask them to fix the HTML errors. That way the presentation should work on all browsers on all OS.

Thanks.

No issues here, looks good, neat and fresh

But I too would like to know (as per Possums request) the download data usage

More pics on immediate view, instead of going to separate areas and viewing separately

Hi all,
Many thanks for the feedback. We've been flat out dealing with the new website and all the little issues it's thrown up. We are currently liaising with our web guy to see if he can help sort out the log in issues. Just to be clear, all visitors can read all stories and navigate around the site without logging in … the only thing that you would be missing out by not logging in is adding comments to stories. I haven't got the skills (at this stage) to sort it out as it's all so new. It seems that there are a lot of people who have been able to log in as normal, and others who are having issues. Apologies for any frustration or inconvenience.

When the major stuff is ironed out any chance of fixing the profanity checker such that "****atoo" is not deleted?

Edit:

Aggggghhhhh...! It got me again! "Coc.katoo".
