Before you buy....toilets

Ok...so I am quite new to this & have been through the caravan/motorhome quandary.

There is a huge amount of info on what to consider when one is buying but on board toilets are rarely mentioned .

Perhaps not surprisingly at caravan & motorhome shows, in sale yards & indeed private sales, a buyer is never asked is they would like to try the toliet!!, BUT I would suggest a buyer should at the very least go in, shut the door, sit down & go through all the motions (pun intended) to see if one is comfortable using it.

The bathrooms might look lovely but having paid $100000++ one does not want to find out at 3am that it was designed for a 20 yo gymnast not a 65 yo less flexible grey nomad. I am confident if one is not comfortable using the toilet, the gloss will quickly go off of the nomad lifestyle very quickly.

I love my trakka Torino, but am about to pay out over $2000 to have modifications done to the bathroom ( & I do not have any particular limitations) to make it more user friendly.

Try before you buy...it could be a caravan may suit your needs better simply because some tend to have bigger bathrooms

The throne in many vans is cramped in I'll agree - To have a separate toilet in ensuite we consider a minimum - having enough room to dress without having a degree in gymnastics also a minimum requirement.

Placement of fittings like roll holders and towel rails are also important features.

The more luxurious the features the more space (weight) must be a consequence.

In reality a porta-potti in a box trailer fitted with a mattress and primus stove, would cover basics - but every increment in size and luxury costs money.

Absolutely agree Sidcam.

When looking at my van in the saleyard I removed my shoes and spent 10 minutes on the bed then into the bathroom and did the toilet thing then into the shower and performed a dry shower routine.
