Clear the breather hole - or fill it very slowly.

PJPR, I would disconnect filling hose at the tank and see if water goes through, then see how it goes from there.

Try pushing the hose further into tank ? So the filler is the breather !Maybe turn tap or water s apply down a little ?? Some fit hose filler fittings on drain side of tank also . Just be aware of over pressurising pipes !! Restrictor etc ? Then all you have to do is undo filler to let air out .

A little funny story.

A long time caravaner friend brought a new caravan with a ensuite, he always complaining about his wife over use of water when caravaning.

We were talking I stated 3 to 4 days on our water supply without even trying and he saids 2 days max.

I did ask repeatedly do you fill the tanks to the beam, yes there is 4 bars on the gauge.

After 18 months of complaining about his wifes water uses, it turns out the second tank was not getting water at the some rate as the first tank.

Footnote, it was during the modification of putting a 3rd water tank on the caravan he found the problem and no he did not let on to the wife. You got to laugh

I heard a true story about two blokes who shared a boat.One of them was less experienced in all things boat. He pulled up at the servo to fill the boat with fuel ..after pumping 100 liters of fuel he could smell petrol lots.

Turned out he had lifted the rubber flap of the rod holder and stuck the fuel nozzle in !

The fire brigade helped out

Yes, we need to laugh.

When I was young truck driver, just the other day, sent from Oxley in Brisbane over to Brisbane Airport to pick up a load of glider plane motors for Sydney.

And the last words I heard were to use my gates and tarps to stop them flying off the trailer as you travelled south.

What does your water tank hold and how long does it last off grid? I ask this as when on my trip into NSW I had 15L and it lasted from 5 days to whenever as most of the time I was creekside so washing cloths and self was in the creek or creek water but when near salt or no water it was basically just drinking water and I used to sponge bath and use as little as needed for washing dishes. On my last trip I ask a couple with a van, they said their biggest issue was water, they could last 2 weeks easy just with solar and food but max off grid was 5-7 days because of water, so the big question? how much water can you store? 200L they said. I was like wtf bleh they said it's mostly used in showers lol I now have 35L so you wont see me in town for months lol but I'm going to make a shower system so lets see?? oh any ideas on water saving methods will also be appreciated.

To get them into the sky without having to use a winch, tow car of aeroplane to launch them. You can also use the motor to ferry them from place to place without a trailer.

EverShower Basic EverShower use Even a blonde can use it. At the Sydney caravan show they were reckoning it would work with 6 litres of water. If you each use a very minimal amount of soap/shower gel on a face washer two or three can use the same water.

2L bottle method works well as the user can easily see how much water is left, enabling the user to better manage what they have remaining of their 2L to finish.

If one is parked for a day, the 2L bottle of water can warm up in the sun if it is located appropriately. Solar heating smile . Otherwise cold shower or fill from a warmed kettle.

We can carry a little over 300L in 4 separate tanks 0f 130L, 70L, 55L and 55L.

It lasts as long as we need it to last. Essentially we shower according to when we expect to be able to fill again.

We can also collect rain water from the roof and pipe it directly into a tank.

Some great comments guys, I have thought about using 2L bottles and have also been looking at those collapsible tubs to recycle the water, I also found a design for a pressurized solar hot water system made from 100mm PVC which seems like a good idea, I did purchase one of those cheap solar showers and also a 20L bucket style shower but I think comes down to the ability of reusing the water while showering, although I don't mind the sponge bath having a decent shower at times make you feel like new.

I guess this is one of those issues I can really only answer my needs once I'm on the road. Might need to fit gutters to my tent lol

I've had the problem of very slow fill.....Can be a problem if theres a line of impatient caravaners waiting for a fill....My solution ..extent the outlet drain line to make it more accessible and fill the tanks via the bottom drain....Remember to take off normal fill caps...Tanks fill without any problem and in no time .....Filling from the bottom drain pushes air from tanks and fill lines.....

We also pressure fill from the bottom. We connect the hose via a QC and filling takes place as fast as the hose can deliver the water.
When the tank is full it overflows via the 12mm John Guest vent.
The water can not get in if the air can not get out. Fix the vent and most filling problems go away.
