Yeh, we tried to rent a van. It was **** loads cheaper to stay in a cabin. crazy expensive. So, like most shopped around and bought. but I think its a good idea.
We have rented over the years . We bought twice the size we rented ! 200 % happier with 100 % larger size when living full time !! Some will say the opposite? The days of cattle track journeys are way beyond me now ! Plenty of good or not so good road to travel ! Even then a good bike could pass ? Motorised ? Or elect . So many options and so many personal variables . From camper trailers , caravans, motor vans to motorhomes , then theres converted pantecs and busses Each to ones personal tastes. I have a friend who just travels by car and stops at hotels . Says they like it best ! Everyone is different !! Theres not one actually better than the other ! Licence, health , experience, confidence and well-being has a lot to do with things too !
